i cannot get my palm to connect to the car,i plug it in the diagnostic port, connect the power to the fuse panel(even test lighted it to make sure the port i was using has power)and it gives me a connection error when i try to get it to log any data..i have even taken the software off the palm and re installed it just to make sure something wasnt wrong there. i have even used a different palm to make sure it wasnt the palm that was messed up..any ideas ?? btw this is on a 1g w/ dsm logger software

When you tried the other palm did you try it with your logger cable? If so, try it with a known working cable as possibly your cable is bad. Does your cable have the connector that just plugs right into the port, or is it the kind with the 3 wires on the end? Assuming the palm powers up correctly but is just not communicating with the car, I'd tend to think it's either your cable or the software set-up. I'm not familiar with DSM Logger software - does it require registration before use? Is your palm a supported device for that software & do you have the correct OS? These are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

yeah the palm is compatible w/ the software vs. and the cable is a working cable cause i used the same cable to hotsync it from my pc to the palm when put the software on the palm. the connector is a direct plug into the diagnostic port, not the cable with just the wires at the end.

I have the exact same problem and posted a thread about it. I guess sometimes you just have to jiggle it around when you plug it in. Thats what ive heard at least. I havent messed with mine recently but the first time i tried i got a no connection error. Then the weird thing is it had made a log the next morning. I was and am really confused. I think you might just have to mess with it until it works. If you figure it out let me know...LOL.
