Ok, so I finally got a chance to install the dsmlink v2.5 into my car after almost a month. the chip is default is set to 550 injectors (that's what I was told by the guy who sold it to me). I still have the stock 450cc's for now.So I wanted to change the setting on it before I start up the car.

So I hooked up the obd2 adapter. Then hooked up the i/o cable to the adapter. I don't have a db9 port on my laptop, so I bought the cable from radioshack. At first the ecu did not want to connect. so I checked the com settings. The com settings where fine, but the config was set for a v3 / 2gen. I changed it to 1v/2v 2gen. And here is what I got. The ecu start to communicate, then stops.

Starts like this:

Looks like it gets past the fuel trim, but once it starts reading the timing, a couple seconds later, I get this:

Looks like it loses connection or something. I'm going to get the keyspan cable and use that one just in case. I did a search and although I see others have had connection issues with other cables, no one has had it start to connect and then stop.

I also noticed that the log says v1 instead of v2.

I also tried to use the V2.5 software, and when I hit capture, or online, either one, It just keep blinking yellow, red, yellow, red, forever, and does not respond.

Any thoughts?

David.

What happens if you gently pull and hold the OBDII adapter in one direction or another as you try to connect? Does the behavior change in some way (better or worse)? If so, then I suspect the OBDII adapter has just been damaged in some way that has broken one of the pin connections. We can certainly repair that for you.

As for it saying "V1", I'm not sure what you mean there. That first screen shot definitely shows a device type of V2 in the lower right hand corner.

I think he's talking about the (v1) that appears next to the table names in the status progress window.

Ah, OK.

To the OP, those version numbers indicate record formats, not device type. There are multiple "types" of some records depending on platform and capabilities. You can ignore those.
