Hey guys,
I have been reading up on dsm link but I still have some questions about it, Do you need a lap top to tune at all times? How much harder is it to use than the safc2?
I am going to go with evo 16G the safc2 550’s and a 190. But I am still curious if dsm link will benefit me. If I went with dsm link I would run 650’s and a 255 fp. I only want to be within 300-350. I don’t mind saving up more if it will be worth it. Thanks again.

The only person who can answer this question is you. Do as much research as you possibly can on each system and then make your decision based on your goals and your budget. Anyone who has ever used DSMlink will recommend it to you, that speaks volumes to me. You'll always get that one guy coming in telling you his brother's cousin made 700awhp on an AFC and 550's and you should get it because it's cheaper. Plans change and it's nice to have something that can grow with you instead of having to be replaced later on. My car was supposed to be just a 16g, SMIC car and look at it now.

PS: I run 880's and average 25-26 mpg in town and over 33 on the highway.

$825 for a 300-350whp goal. Dont you think thats a little high You can get a SAFC on ebay brand new for 225. It can be found for 150 with just a little looking. Dsmlink is great yes, but not when you goal is only 350whp. The safc would work great. Instead of buying a logger he can go to a dyno and have them tune it and he would be set for around 300.

Where you running the maf-t 1st gen or 2nd gen. The 1st gen was a pain in the ass, but the 2nd gen works great. My mechanic is running it on dsmlink no problem and making enough power to run 10's on street tires. Most people that go link have higher goals and the maf-t is pretty much needed. But now we have the evo maf, which has not been used much but seems to work great.

Yeah I ran the gen 1 the gen 2's are amazing yes but more expensive which add up real fast then you start talking ems money and then you skip right over the link but that's a totaly diffrent topic. To answer yoru question no 825 is not to high for 350whp because when it comes to tuning you will never over spend. While it can be had with less money you never know how valuable your tuning device is untill something goes wrong. Anyone can take a safc to the dyno with a wideband and get lucky and make good power but when injector 3 goes bad or your coil pack goes bad and your car starts to run bad tuning devices like dsmlink will allow you to isolate and fix the problem where as your kinda sol with a safc cause you don't know what the hell is going on. Like I can test my fuel pump each injector individualy or collectively check knock timing advacne air flow any numbver of things that can alert me to what's going on. Not to mention the raised rev limit for cars looking to push high hp high reving turbos and 3stage(also called studder box and NLTS)
