So we are trying to replace the Driver side axle oil seal on my 1990 Talon AWD turbo 5-spd.

We got one from Local parts store (Advance Auto) and tried to fit it in and the seal from them wasn't small enough....

So we called dealership and ordered one through them. Thinking it was coming from the dealership it would be the correct seal were looking for.. So we get back home here and go and try putting it in and even that one is to big.

The seal that came out of my tranny had a metal lip on it. Neither of the seals Ive got from parts store or local dealership has had a metal lip on it.

Does anyone have a Part number for the driver side axle oil seal that has metal lip on it???

Let me know if you can, i have the caps program..

MD719710 = Drivers side axleshaft (axle shaft) seal part number (where it comes out of the tranny) The outer ring is metal.
I happen to be installing that one tonight on a 1990 TSI AWD and was searching for any tips on shortcuts and happened to find this "unresolved" post.

Make sure that the notch in the seal flange is on
the up side where it is installed. This puts the "drain" hole in the seal on the bottom.
