I'm still searching for a nice 6 bolt DSM in and around Chicago.
People give me a lot of crap for wanting to buy a DSM, telling me all this BS

A buddy of my told me that most DSM's on launch control kill the clutches or tranny's after like 30 launches, is this true?

Don't listen to them. do what you want every vehicle has its quirks and the great thing is you have a great community of dsmers that are great if you need help.

The 6 Bolt is less prone to crank walk. ( well i have never heard of it in a 6 bolt) I have a 90 tsi awd and Launched more than 30 times and all is good, and everyone knows that launching is going to be hard on a clutch anyways it don't take a scientist to figure that out.

sounds like haters to me.........go dsm...they are prone to "more" problems but show me one car that doesnt act funny when you keep throwing all kinds of new stuff on it:talon:

I can't say from experience on a 2-step, but I couldn't see that happening at all unless the person didn't know how to drive.

Without a 2-step, I launched well over 400 times on my stock clutch. It never gave me problems except sometimes while hotlapping, but when I took it out it still had at least 40-50% left on it. Why don't you try to get with some of the members of Chi-Town DSM? They should be able to help you out and give you a bit more info in a more "hands on" experience.

As far as turbo choice, go with an Evo 3 16g to start with. Awesome all around turbo for street, drag, road racing, auto x. Twelve second runs would only be a few supporting mods away.

It really depends on the driver and how the tranny has been treated in the past.

that's what sucks about DSM's. They've been beaten on but as long as maintence is done, their good to go.

Keep searching around and I'm sure you'll find a clean dsm in the Chi.

Where you from? I'm 40 mins from Midway

i dont think Chicago DSM is still around, i heard they split up cus they either sold there cars or crashed LOL, that kinda sux though
