That's the problem. Everyone sells a tough tranny. No one sells an upgrade for the tranny that'll hold tons of power. I'm not really interested in paying over 3 grand for a tranny this go around. I'd like to have a very strong tranny upgrade fro about 6 - 700 bux.

I'm doing a 6 bolt swap into my at car right now . I have not taken it to the track before the 7 bolt gave out but I am hopeing for low to mid 12s...:dsm:

i have since decided to part out my auto 1g.
i will just get a manual 1g later.
oh well. for what i want, the manual is just much cheaper to get me there.

haha, strength for maybe 350lb-ft or so.
i cant afford to have a tranny break on me and then go through the trouble of fixing it.

Wel, if it's good enuff for Russ Coxe, then it's good enuff for me. He is using the Alto HPSK and hasn't had any problems yet. He's only gone 10.30s, but at 144mph. He was having troule getting good 60 foots. He has also never broken an axelOMG I myself was shoked to hear that one. e has run 1.43 60 foots before too.

i honestly doubt that russe is running anything remotely close to a stock transmission. he probably has spent a lot more money on his auto beefing up than a manual would have.
also, you have to install a stall to match your powerband, and if you upgrade, then you have to restall it. that is a pain in the ass.
then their is the whole lack of an aftermarket for autos. also, if i break something, it is really hard to find replacement parts.
that is why i decided to part mine out, to assist those that need the parts.

Who says I'll be running a stock convertor. I'll prolly start with a 3200 from Pro Tourque and go from there. Full shift kit will be installed, along with the upgraded clutches. If that stuff breaks, then I'll start over and hopefully I can get some sponsors with the time I put down.

You also have to look at the weight of the car, notice russ's car is probably one of the lightest dsm's around..

I just had my tranny rebuilt at ATF and I'm very happy man now. My upgraded torque converter now stalls at about 3000 which is already enough for a hellacious burnout ! :)

I spent almost $2700 in this tranny but it was worth it. Now I got shift kit, r&r overhaul performance rebuild kit and high stall converter. Good stuff....
