downpipe questions

alright i was talkin with a couple of my friends tonight. i just recently got my monster runnin, we got it running and left the downpipe disconnected....i boost creep real bad i hold psi for 2 seconds then BAM 20 psi....im runnin a stock o2 housing with the e316g setup. i already realize i need at least an e3 o2 housing to fix this. now i connected my downpipe and my car feels like half the power is missing. my exhaust consists of stock piping, a burnt out flex section and probably half melted cat...i realize i need a 3" exhaust. Now here is my question....ive been lookin around at downpipes and o2 housings, my buddy warned me tonight to becarful of what o2 housing i get, because regular dsm downpipes will not match up. so i have been lookin at this o2 housing..

now my question is, i was warned that this o2 housing wont match up with the stock downpipe nor most of the others. does anyone know of a downpipe i can buy that will match, or if i buy that housing im stuck having a custom downpipe made?

Why did he say that? If they're built for a DSM, you shouldn't have fitment issues. I've never heard of any O2 housing giving someone fitment issues, even with the eEvoIII 1G6 or 16G - being the same Mitsubishi bolt pattern...

apparently the downpipe flange is a 1/2 inch wider then the usual flange.. ???supposedly the bolt pattern wont match up

Like I said, I've never heard of a problem like that before. A flange 1/2" thicker than the stock flange would be improbably thick - a 3/4" thick flange is practically unheard of.

Hopefully a 4G63 guru will chime in here, because I've never had to personally deal with aftermarket O2 housings; but I'm almost positive most of them will fit your car without modification. All of these aftermarket parts manufacturers would be out of business if their parts didn't fit.

i think what he means is the opening in the flange is a 1/2 inch wider. so the bolt holes are a quarter inch off each side to the 4g63 pattern.. ?
