As the title says..I just brought home my gsx was waiting for the title to show up.. But any way...

Popped the hood and noticed that the down pipe was cherry f*!$in red... Blockage some where? Or just natural...

Updated profile.. Thought it saved the first time.

I was driving normal, was just trying to get home in the rain. I do have a A/F gauge, but It's not reading correctly. There is power to the electronics but I believe it's not hooked up to the o2 sensor. Will need advice on which one it should be hooked up to up stream or downstream.

Since I just bought it, I will be going through everything.

Not supposed to be glowing red. May be it's the flexible in the downpipe that is broken inside. Is your car running good?

It bogs down while rolling onto the throttle. And it takes forever to build boost, while rolling onto the throttle, and at times it will sputter when it does build boost. will be doing a leak test

Based on what you described, I would say you have a very bad blockage of exhaust. Does the car have a catalyst? If so, its probably plugged up. If not, I would check the flex section like mentioned earlier and also check to see if the exhaust has been collapsed from hitting anything.

That A/F sensor is likely narrowband if you are suggesting that it needs to be wired into an existing o2 sensor. Only recently have cars come with o2 sensors capable of reading the actual air to fuel ratio on a properly wide band, hence the meaning of wideband. To really know what's going on, look into an Innovate Motorsports MTX-L or equivalent wideband and install that to get an idea where your combustion is at, because as another user suggested, it is likely a lean condition causing sky high EGTs.

The only other issue that would cause such heat in the exhaust would be a collapsed catalytic converter, in which case either cut it out and put a catless downpipe on or replace the cat.

Feel free to PM me once you get a wideband on there and we can talk about the various failures capable of causing a lean condition.

Retarded timing, extremely lean, clogged cat/exhaust, like mentioned previously, are generally the cause of glowing exhaust parts.

Being that you can drive it for a few min, then it gets bad, I'm leaning on a shot cat. It's heating up, melting/expanding and blocking the exhaust flow.

While looking at some sensors for the throttle positioning sensor and the pigtail is a little loose reconnected it feels really loose like it's not clipping in a place I'm thinking I'm losing the sensor for the throttle position also while looking at my Boost gauges the factory one is saying that I am boosting over close to the plus sign and my street glow the one that's on there after market that is already installed is only reading about 5 PSI or less so I'm going to replace the throttle position sensor and connector and see if I can't see if that will fix it

but what I don't get while I was driving fine and boosting up over 13 pounds last night that's what I don't understand and then this morning and a little bit ago it's not even boosting just barely chugging along.

but I appreciate everybody's feedback and that's what I'll check to see, whenever I get home from work

I think you are running rich which will cause this problem . When you have a lot of unburned fuel going into the exhaust it creates heat . I have seen car with a misfire dumping fuel making the cat glow cheery red. look at your fuel trims and see if the long term fuel trim is in the high negative side.

so, I was looking at the exhaust and while it was running this evening and I heard that I had an exhaust leak where the downpipe connects to the wastegate collector will be getting the Turbo gasket set tomorrow to get that resealed and I will be doing a boost leak test tomorrow to see how that goes...that's if I get off tomorrow and time also

So, thought to update and get some more advice. Installed an AEM wideband, and been monitoring the ratio and while cruising and at idle it read 14.3-14.8. But while at wot it becomes rich 10.0. I have a boost controller waiting at home to be installed.

Question is...Do those readings seem OK?

And will the boost controller help at wot with the readings?

Your boost controller controls how much boost your turbo makes so yes it could technically alter WOT air/fuel ratio.

Time to update...

So, everyone tellin me that I was running lean was 100% right. I was hitting fuel cut @4k rpm at 25lbs...stock fuel system and injectors...

Its now time to upgrade my car...
