dose my turbo have a seprate oil ?

just wondering, heading out to my grandmas to use her garage for a boost leak test now , but some have told me it might .


someone also told me turbos make a squeeking when they go out, my car makes a horn like noise if i nail the gas ...wondering if they might be the same noise .

No, the engine oil is the same oil that circulates through the turbo. If you look at the top, there is a fitting that goes from your head to your turbo. On the bottom, there is a tube that goes from the bottom of the turbo into your oil pan. When turbo's go bad, they start to smoke/leak oil out of the compressor housing/the compressor wheel starts to "eat" the housing.

Your turbo and engine all have the same source for its oil. Check your engine oil levels by using your dipstick to figure out the amount of oil capacity you are at. Be sure to do it with the vehicle off, and to check it more than once to confirm oil levels before adding.

As to your squeaking question....Either you have boost leak, or you have a dying turbo. I would suggest reading the trouble-shooting threads to find an answer == Problem Diagnosis - DSM Forums
