Changing my oil soon have a question

can i use 5w-30??? that and also can you use lucas oil stabaliser?? i've used it before but i dont know if its thick residue will clog the oil lines to the turbo??? can someone answer this for me please??? thanks

stick with factory recomendations, which i believe for turbo cars are 10w30, check your manual.

I think it's 10w30 also. You may to try to use synthetic if you are concerned with clotting. Also a TT will work wonders with preventing oil clogging in the turbo.

Someone here was cussing Lucas up a storm.

Fresh oil needs no additives. Some DSMs respond well to Rislone's RESTORE, and I couldn't guess at why.

5W-30 is the recommended oil up to 100°F, above that is 10W-30.

Stay away from snake oil additives and magic potions. Leave those to the internet nerds.

10W-30 regular oil is all a DSM needs. Synthetic is overkill. If you do run synthetic ( Mobile 1 ), change the filter only every 5K, and a full change at 15K.

i use 5w30, but i'm going to try 15w40 or 20w50 for my next change. i recommend ignoring mileage and just check the oil everyday for 2 reasons 1) make sure you have the proper amount 2) make sure it's not getting really dirty. if your oil stays reasonably clean for 5k mi, change the filter (if you feel lucky).

I use 5w30 in the winter. It works really well on cold starts and it doesn't take forever to turn over. On summers, I use 10w30 or 10w40.

I use castrol synthetic blend 10w30. I haven't seen any problems and I regularly change my oil and filter every 3k miles.

Same here, cant really see myself shelling out the cash for full synth. The castrol blend is plenty for me.

i go with sentec blend 20w-50 in the summer and this winter i put mobile-1 senthetic blend 10w-40, i have had no problems.

Am I the only one that can't really tell a difference between brand <x> and another? I have gone through castrol, quakerstate synthetic, mobil 1 sythetic, and supertech sythetic and I felt NO difference between brands other than lifter tick.

As far as I'm concerned they all function the same as long as you do regular oil changes.

The only difference that you could notice is lifter tick. You can't feel engine wear. Mobile 1 is not like any other available oil, except of course for Amsoil. Oil technology is so advanced now that even regular joe-schmoe dino oil is extremely effective. If you are running Mobile, don't change at 3K every time. You are throwing money away. Read the link!!!

Agreed. Over the long run, synthetic is about the same cost as regular since you don't need to change it as often. Let's see: same cost, fewer oil changes, can withstand very high temps better-- I'll choose synthetic.
