Yep mine broke around that time too. Paid close to $100 for a new one. Its almost like its planned that way from the factory. The passenger side door handle has 128,000 miles and still gowing strong :laugh:

Just go through ebay man. I got mine painted for about 70 bux shipped. Just look around. Ebay's the way to go for door handles. Mine was brand spankin new too.

I imagine its more costly at the Dealer because you can either order them in Black or painted to match...

If you need it bad, which i am sure you do, find a junkyard, ebay, or dealer. Ill be glad to get one from the dealer if it means i get it a week earler. Mine broke at 64k by the way.

I got my uncle to get me one for like 50 so its all good but i didnt buy the paint so now im just gonna wait till im doing the body work. thanks again every one

Yep... my driver's side broke about a year ago...got it fixed eventually....then a couple months ago my passenger side broke, but I'm not too worried about that one. This is in Texas so I don't think it's because the cold.

My 1g has 130k and still stock door handles, but just in case I have brand new ones sitting at the house, good thing they already come painted in white.

Hey All,

It was like any ole regular night, went to my 98 eclipse n/t and went to open the door and then CRACK! the handle pops right off

Looking at the handle it snapped and was wondering if this is an easy fix to do and find the parts or perhaps recommend a mechanic to do all of this in the Souther California Area (LA).

Its a pain to go through the passenger side to pop open the driver side door!

Just buy the parts used or from a junkyard, or if you want to pay more, from the dealer.

They are not hard to replace.

Just shave the door handles, add a door pop kit, and have it wired to your alarm remote.

That fixes all door handle problems.

What parts would I need, and is it hard to take out and install?

I have a keyless entry but yeah just moved to SoCal, where are the DSM Junkyards?
