2G Door Handles Help! [Merged 11-7] broke broken eBay replacement repair handle outside

Does anyone know how to fix the outter handle for a 2g GST? The locking mechanism is working fine along with the inner door handle but the outter lifts but does not open....any help is greatly appreciated. Thank!

yuor handle is either broken or the linkage got disconnected. Pop the inner panel and see which of the two you are dealing with

if the linkage got disconnected insert it back in and rotate the green/orange clip to snap it onto the linkage

I may be mistaken but I believe that "search" is not a valid response. However I too am having trouble opening the door and will be removing the door panel this weekend. Are there any parts I should buy before hand, or should i just crack it open and play around?

www.2gnt.com go over there and there is a guy that has produced a few but not sure how many he ending up making. They were pretty expensive though but if you are going to keep your car for a long time and live in the colder climate where the doors freeze shut and you HAVE to pull on the handle they may be a good investment.

I've also seen a reinforcement kit for the stock handle. Its just little metal pieces that get screwed onto the stock handle. Of course now that i have a 2g I cant find the link anymore.....

These are what I would recommend as a fix. But as Defiant said earlier...........unlatch the door with the handle, then open the door from the metal (door skin).

I need to get a new drivers side door handle and I was thinking of going ebay, but I am not sure if the quality is good. So if there are any suggestions or comments, let me know.

i bought a driver side for my RS. it works as it should because its my daily driver.( so i dont mind the quality) but dosnt feel like a oem one. find a oem one and it would make a whole lot of a difference.
thats just from what i experience.

yeh i just replaced mine with an ebay one...its a little stiffer and doesnt feel the same.. but it fits good and gets the job done.

Try to get OEM i have both ebay ones , they work look good but i would like oem it just doesnot feel "real" you know made in china cheap plastic feel ?

i bought one and it looked fine but the fit wasn't so great... i ended up taking off the handle part and re-assembling it with the original part

Thanks for the help. I have another question. From most of the replys, I was told OEM was the way to go. I found a OEM door handle on mitsubishiparts.com. I was wondering if the GS, GS-T, or GSX door handle is an exact fit for the 95 Eagle Talon, Im guessing it is. Thanx

I too just replaced my door handle about 2 weeks ago. These are great, and feel almost identical to OEM. And yes, the door handles for Eclipses and Talons are the same.

if you have big hands be prepared for a painful/tough install ... that is if you're leaving the glass in and working around it.

i got an ebay handle 4 months ago and it works great, slightly stiffer but to me that feels stronger. maybe that's because it's a brand new spring rather than my 12 year old one that broke.

Well, I ended up getting the door handle from 1A auto. Hope to get it installed this weekend with help from my uncle (he's the one with big hands). Though the biggest difference to me is that it has a flat finish and my stock one is glossy, but that should be a easy fix. Pics to come after install.

I installed an Ebay door handle on the passenger side and it was a pain in the ass. The quality is okay, mine seems to not be reinforced as much and it came painted flat black. It still holds up well though!
