2G Door Handles Help! [Merged 11-7] broke broken eBay replacement repair handle outside

Well i went out to my car today, unlocked it and pull on the hand to open the door the handle broke off. Anyone happen to know what thats gonna cost or how easy it would be to replace?

This happend to me twice. You will need new handles from ebay or the dealer or junkyard...where ever. also need them painted. Then just get the inside door panel off and get a chiltons manual for the car and put em in good luck.

It is easy to replace. Check Ebay for door handles or your local dealer or junk yard.

if your handles are black then you wont need to get it painted. mine came painted black allready. it is a easy job. good luck

Everyone I know broke their door handle, I also broke the one on my previous dsm.

You can repair the handle you have for far less money than replacement by any means using one of my kits. You won't have to match the paint either. One kit repairs two handles.

On my web pages I show you a trick to easily remove the plastic clip for the actuator rod so the only real difficulty is reaching inside the door to pull off the lock cylinder and the 10mm bolt just above it.

First bad ebay experience: i bought a door handle off ebay and the thing looked nice but as soon as i test fit it before paint the darn thing had a curve in it on the bottom, i ended up taking the moving part and stuff off the ebay one and re-using the backing\under part

when i bought my DSM the handle was already broken off, so i got the one off of Ebay and it works great, haven't had any problems with it. (and then i broke the one off my girlfriend's eclipse, and she got the same one as well )

But yea def. worth it.

Go to the junk yard. Thats what I did, then it cost me like $65 to have a body shop paint and install it.

I had a hard time finding door handles in junkyards because 2G Eclipses are apparently very rare around here (SoFla). Sebrings, which share the same door handle, are rare too (who would've thought that?). Anyway, I found a brand new handle on eBay for $12 + shipping (about $20 total).

I have an RS, so my handles are black from the factory, but if you really wanted to minimize costs, you could easily paint it with color matched spraypaint (http://www.paintscratch.com/).

The install is relatively straight forward, although a little tedious at times because of the limited space. All you need to do is remove the door panel, and the handle itself comes out with two screws. You'll then need to transfer the lock before installing the new one and re-attaching the hooks.

That was a pretty brief overview, but if you give yourself an hour or two, and just pay attention to what you're doing, the whole install is pretty apparent. Good luck.

I got mine from this place off of eBay. http://stores.ebay.com/REPLACEMENT-PARTS-R-US they got to me very fast and they were $47.95 shipped. This was for two new ones. Also yeah they are black and the above poster is correct if you get color match paint and paint it yourself it comes out really well. I did this on my Dodge Avenger and it looked great. The paint was a little light at first but then it darkened perfectly to the color of the car.

Go to the dealer they charged me about $90 for the handle and painting it.
