Victoria,
I've got my tranny out right now and I've got a new fuel filter sitting here, so now would be a great time to change it out, only thing is I just thought of this now and I can't turn the car on to relieve the fuel pressure, I was thinking I'd just crack the banjo bolt and hold a rag there to let out some gas? I don't think it should be a big deal but I'd like someone with some experience to reinforce what I'm thinking.

Open the gas cap and let it sit for a while.

You can just crack that banjo bolt and hold a rag I suppose. All depends how much of a mess you want to make and/or how much of a hurry you are in. If you do, keep your face away, fuel in the eye burns.

But crackin the gas cap works.

Your going to get fuel whether you like it or not but you can have better control of where its sprays if you unbolt the line where it connects to the fuel rail and have a small cup ready to catch the spill (please don't damage your o-ring) oh yeah don't forget to open the gas cap and relieve pressure there, it helps a bit, just push your screw driver or finger through.

If you've had your tranny out and it's still out, there's a good chance there is no pressure in the fuel system. It will bleed down over time. If you are concerned then do as you stated and put a rag over the bolt while loosing it. If it were me i'd just loosen it and not really worry about it. It may have 40psi but the volume is so low that it cannot maintain pressure long with a leak.

wasn't much pressure at all, the gas the leaked out was the gas that dribbled down through the line, I just put an old sheet all around the area as I didn't know quite what to expect, it was no problem, Thanks.

...and keep your mouth closed.

Antifreeze good.
Gas bad.

I just releaved the pressure...
im changing mine right now... what a hassle. there is no room to work on it. i got the top of the filter off but i cant get the bottom. i cant reach it from underneath the car either.

anyone know what to do? im stuck.

Thx
