does your dsm groan?

My dsm has always made a groaning sound.. It happens intermittantly sometimes caused by a slight bump to the frame, sometimes on its own. I only notice it when the car is off probably because I can't hear it when the car is running. The sound lasts about 2-3 seconds and stops, then again randomly later on. I'll lear it 1 or two times when i'm working on the car I can't figure out where the sound is coming from. I thought it was the front shocks settling at first but I recently change them out and I still hear it. Anyone experience anything like this ? I think it happens more often on warm/hot days

I can say i only notice when its off... its the weirdest thing The only sound I can say it resembles is a dying fuel pump... like an electric motor whirring sound and a small vibration that goes with it. But since the engine and ignition is off it couldn't be the fuel pump. I can't imagine any other electric motor that would come on at random for a few seconds and turn off..

My car makes a similar noise when the power antenna tries to go up and down.

My buddies 2g one day kept running after the car was off and the key out of the ignition. Pull the ABS fuse and see if it still does it.

I will try that, don't use my abs anyway since I swap the rear knuckle for a non abs

When my downpipe was only held on by one bolt my car made a noise that I would say resembled a groan.

Both of my 1gs make a sort of groaning sound. After the first few times it was clear that it was the frames themselves though. Probably due to heat expansion or the pressures that are being shifted when in a turn.

Have you tried to narrow it down a little more? Is it louder in or outside?
