1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse/Talon-20k invested, tuned to 340WHP on pump gas @16 PSI boost by UMS Tuning. 10k miles on $6,000 engine build. AEM engine management system. Balanced 1991 6-bolt block,SRP 9.2-1 pistons, Eagle rods, Ferrera valves and springs, HKS 263 degree cams, ported and polished head, decked block, metal head gasket, AEM cam gears, Unorthodox engine dampner, Extrude Honed intake manifold, RC 60mm trottle body, RC 550 injectors, AEM fuel rail, SX fuel pressure reg. Walbro 255 LPH pump, Blitz air intake, 20G turbo, XS Engineering front mount intercooler, full 3 inch Thermal R&D exhaust, Tial external wastegate, Tial blow off valve, Magnecor 8.5mm wires, B&M engine oil cooler, Quaiffe limited slip diff., AWD equal length axles, all polyurethane suspension and engine mounts, Fluidyne radiator, FAL low profile fans, Baer brakes, S.S. lines, slotted and cross drilled rotors, front and rear strut bars, DSS coilovers, carbon fiber hood, have most original parts, all reciepts and maintenance, laptop included for programming have extra parts included 16G turbo, HKS VPC unit, Greddy Profec boost controller, MSD ignition, AEM ingnition, old intercooler from previous mods before AEM EMS installed...... After reading this does it seem like 340 wheel horsepowerr is possible ?? Im going to be buying this car just trying to make sure .
 
I would love to check this car out in a few weeks. Im in dallas every weekend. Ill tell you if its right with my butt dyno haha.
 
Should be able to, dont see why not. IF that person invested 20g's and only dyno at 340hp sounds like someone over paid.
 
I believe he is stating that he has spent 20k total on car and everything... He has told me that it was tuned once before on a mixture of race/pump gas and making 385 at the wheels. This individual has owned this car since 97 and has all reciepts. Im new to dsm's so i was just curious as to whther or not 340 whp was possible with what he has. Thanks for the responses so far :D

That would be great. Im actually having to travel 17 hours to pick this car up so about two days round trip. Im super excited...Im selling my GSX to my nephew cause i promised him i would when he saved the money up and he did. Have to be a man of my word! LOL...:hellyeah:

If he's got receipts on 'everything' he should the dyno sheets for you to look at as well.

Agreed, alot of overpriced parts that added up to a empty wallet and small gains. He built the motor to use 264 cams? Anyway, tons of mods so I can only guess poor tuning is to blame for the numbers considering you can get 340hp on the 16g. Either way it's worth checking out, how much does he want for it?
 
Firstly unless a 1g is immaculate and near stock it is still hardly worth that much. Still less I would say. Secondly, your paying for someones else's used product. He already has it built up to how HE wants it. You want room to play with it yourself. You never know why he's selling it if its so built up.

You don't pay for someone else's modifications, and you always assume anything that's not OEM is broken.
 
Good points. He still has ALL factory parts so if nothing else I could put it back factory and sell after market parts. Thought that would recoup some of the money. Its a VERY clean car with a spotless carfax. I do understand that's they are used parts but nonetheless still worth something being that they are namebrand and in good shape. I do appreciate all comments thus far. Please keep them coming.
 
Theres also the fact that its almost 20 years old. For almost $5k you could find another 2g GSX.
 
I bought a 1990 gsx that was in prefect condition for 2500 that came with 15000 in receipts. What a mistake that was. It was stated that the motor was built and this and that. So i modded it for E85 and boooom!!! Car wasn't even built someone took out the forged parts, and put in stock. I just spent almost 5000 getting it built with forged parts and everything else on the car that was broke. The shop that did it for me felt bad so they helped me out and lowered there labor rate down for me. Yesterday had to install new e-brake lines, and noticed an issue with the drive shaft. ITS A GAMBLE WHEN BUYING MODDED CARS SO BEWARE!!
 
Especially a heavily modded one like the OP wants. Just be patient. A nicer one will pop up.
 
Like gsxdsmking stated save your money and buy something nice and STOCK. That way you know it hasn't been tampered with and you can modded the way you want it.
 
I know I`m not rich in the post category, but 16 psi + a 20g doesnt make 340whp. It`s barely efficient at that psi, unlike a 14b or 16g. Also - Why 550`s for all that? Any number of posts on here will show you that 550`s are maxed out (100% idc) around 300-325 whp.

And what they said about buying a built car with ~`$20k` in to too.;)

I have a lot of parts that I bought that aren't NEEDED but thats just because I want to make my goal of 400awhp a little easier on the car. I'm not going to try and make the stock parts work hard to make that power. MAYBE, that guy was building his car for something else and then stopped, and thats where the 340hp comes from.

I wouldn't say it's not a good car untill you can check it out.
