Hey everyone, I just got finished with my rebuild and install, everything's connected and it deffinatley runs, I haven't done the break in procedure yet (the 30 minute one) as I wanted to get something like a wideband or maybe an adjustable regulator to bring some information.

I understand dsmlink is for adjusting the ecu but is there anything that would help someone see if the logs don't look right? I'm not really trying to tune right away I know its more important to make sure everything is running correctly.

would it be a better idea to save up for a wideband & AFPR? I have a 95 I should have an eprom but I have yet to take a look at the ECU.

You could take a log of the car idling. Give us your setup details (injectors, MAF your using, or SD if your not using a MAF, engine size, etc.) and we could tell you how things are looking..

Yes, take a look at ecmtuning.com

Dsmlink can show you logs and you can compare those to others or upload them. It shows everything from timing, injector ducty cycle, afr, coolant temp, speed, rpm, boost, maf reading, cel, pretty much everything. The v3 lite version is what I have & I haven't encountered a bottleneck yet.

For break in you should just run the stock tune so Link won't really help you out. Do you have an upgraded fuel pump? If not, an AFPR is not 100% necessary either. I'm not saying these are bad upgrades, but I would be more concerned with breaking the engine in. The rings completely seat in the first few hours/miles.

The only way to really see if a log doesn't look right is to compare it to others, watch the videos on ECMLink.com, or ask on here. But like I said, you will be breaking in the engine with the stock tune so DSMLink it's terribly important right now. Also, you can get DSMLink software for free and use the data cable to datalog. No EPROM chip needed to datalog, but of course you can't tune.

thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated :thumb:

I got the dsmlink now, just gotta order the cord. Was wondering if anyone knew how soon should the timing light be used upon break in?

the fuel pump has not been upgraded, but I rewired it with 10 guage wire & replaced the fuel line with braided hose & fuel lab filter, just never got around to testing the fuel pressure as aparently there's no testing port on these rails so it looks like it's a better idea to pick up an AFPR just to monitor fuel pressure.
