Resolved What Gauges does DSMlink display?

This isn't a tuning question so I think it belongs here. I am going to be picking up a dsmlink for my car and I want to know what gauges it will display (boost, EGT, oil pressure,...). How many can be displayed at a time on the laptop?

Basically it will display anthing the ecu can read/display. As for things such as boost egt etc. you need to have your own sensors and then wire them into a free input in the ecu if you have any. For example there is an option in dsmlink to trick the ecu into thinking you have your second O2 sensor installed, this way you can unhook it and use that input for something else.

Actually there is a boost display in dsmlink but I think its abit more accurate if you get one of those GM MAP sensors instead.

Okay so you are saying that if I wanted to use the DSMlink as a boost gauge I would have to get a GM 3 bar map sensor and replace the stock sensor and this would give me an accurate boost reading. And I can do same thing be done with with EGT if you run the wires to an empty input on the ecu?

I would still keep both mechanical boost and egt gauges as precausion in case you don't have the notebook with you for real time monitoring.

Well I do plan on making a custom mount so the laptop can remain in the car at all times.

Just realize that it won't 'look' like a gauge; it will only be a line on a graph that, at a glance, you probably won't be able to figure out what PSI it's indicating.

Honestly if you try to read the graph on the road, it's the best way to crash your car. I have Dsmlink, and I still use Egt + wideband (AEM)... and having your laptop fix = best way to found your car with fresh ventilation, because you will have no more window and no more laptop, unless you keep your car in a garage and go to the track and put back your car in the garage...

from memory - dsmlink will read any .5 volt output.
( or sumthin like that )
