Yes I know, its been discussed before.

Im almost through with all my bolt on mods, and am about to start on fuel delivery. Im going to order that fuel system package from extremepsi.com which includes safc2, injectors, and fuel pump. I dont intend to make this car a monster or anything so i decided to go with a walbro 190 pump. It would save me the hassle of needing an FPR. Or so i thought. I've got a couple people here on a local forum that tell me i need an fpr.

I've searched here on tuners, and found a couple old threads that stated that with a 190, i wouldnt need a fpr. Is this still the case? I dont want to mess anything up by not getting one if i really actually need it. Please tell me if i should get one or not. If it helps, heres my setup...

No, I don't think you will need one...A 255lph fuel pump definitely will overrun a stock Fuel pressure regulator, but not a 190. Using a 255 would be overdoing it anyway, it seems like a large majority of DSMers only need a 190 for their setup anyway so don't worry about it...

Heres a brain picker for you:

My cousin has a 93 tsi awd. (granted its a 1g) But, with the STOCK fuel pump, he read 42psi 45 psi and 45psi, with 3 diffrent stock regulators. With the 255 he read 45psi. On his other 91tsi awd, he read 54psi on the stock fuel pump. All these numbers are with the hose pulled off. There's no clog in the return line, and the fuel pump is getting normal voltage, and its the second gauge on the fpr tester. So it can't be the gauge.

Chew on that.

Thats exactly what ive always thought

I betcha your buddy had an N/T regulator in there. direct bolt on, looks the same, fits perfectly. People have put them on as performance parts as they give the stock injectors some headroom, especially with a hacked maf.

Or someone had a damaged stock regulator and went to the wrecker and said "hey, this ones the same" and snagged it for $5.
