Does a intake manifold need a tune to use safely

After I had to take off my timing belt to replace my water pump by rpm’s have been off when im idle. when I’m in drive they’re at around 400 to 500 and will sometimes be at 200 but in park they’ll be at 1000 to 1100 and sometimes 800 so ive been running a higher idle at 900 drive and 1600 park and noticed my idle screw thing that messes with rpms is getting messed up so I was wondering if I could safely buy a performance intake manifold to use instead of my stock one without needing a tune ? And if anyone has any suggestions for the unstable idle please tell me. I was also thinking maybe it’s because the timing needs to be a little advanced or behind instead of right on any suggestions on timing? And is it cool to use a performance intake manifold without a tune? And if so any suggestions on a manifold?

Probably not to run “safely” but it may change current tune so it would probably be wise to do some data logging before just sending it.

There will be more to this than just swapping an intake manifold. Is your gst stock or has it been modified? If modified, please tell us what all has been done to it.

If the car doesn't run exactly as before and all you did was a timing belt change then the job has to be off. Take the covers off and check.

I don't think you will need any "performance parts", I think you just need a guy who adjusts everything properly for you
