Do I need to change the gasket if I take off the throttle body elbow?

Must I replace the gasket if I take off the throttle body elbow? I have never taken one off on a dsm but I know with some other cars the gasket just falls apart or is too compressed to work again if removed.

I would go with the metal ones. I am going to be switching to a 1g tb and I have to open up the center for clearance. And a little rtv never hurts.

So the metal 2g gaskets don't hang over into the air stream?

I figured it would since they're for a 52mm tb as opposed to the 60mm 1g...

No, you're correct. The 2G gasket WILL intrude into the air stream and affect flow through the TB. I wouldn't recommend it with a 1G TB. Also, if the gasket is embossed then the ridge might not even end up between the sealing surfaces.

Definately buy new ones. They're cheap enough. I'd buy a few of them if the store has em. Never know when you'll need or want em.
