Do I need a new fuel pump and new Injectors for my setup?

Toronto,
Well bought my car few weeks back and getting my mods together now and I have this dilemma.

Current Mods on my 97 GSX
New FB Big T28 ported Turbo
SBR Hybrid Connection 2.5” Tubular O2 housing with new O2 sensor
Custom Turbo back Exhaust system (2.5” DP, 3” High Flow Cat and 3” Catback with magna flow Muffler and new secondary O2 sensor)
High flow intake hard pipes with cone filter
Upper and Lower Intercooler piping with custom made 2.5” FMIC pipes
Big FMIC (3” in/out lets)
Greedy Type S BOV (routed to intake)
Greedy Profect B 2 Boost Controller
3x Gauges with pod (Boost, Air/Fuel, Water Temp)

My Plan is to run max 16-18 PSI.
My WHP goal is max 275-300 as this car is my daily driver. So for this goal do I really need new Walbro- 190 LPH 2G AWD and 550cc Injectors?

Any Suggestions would be appreciated

you are safe running what you are now but if you want to turn up the boost you might want to look into getting a fuel pump some 550's and a something to tune that with....but your going to be looking at spending a bit of money once it comes to buy some sort of tuner and logger

ABSOLUTELY. :thumb: You have racked up quite a few moods after just having the car for a few weeks, not sure if it came like that. A 190LPH and 550s are a minimum I would say with that setup. If possible you might want to add an AFPR, so you dont overun your stock regulator and for "on-edge" tuning, where you might want to raise your base pressure.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY.....YOU NEED SOMETHING TO CONTROL YOUR INJECTORS.
AFC-logger/DSMLINK/MAFT/STANDALONE?

If you are on a budget, I would say get a fuel controller and the pump first. Maybe you can squeeze somthing out of those 450s up to about 14lbs of boost until you get injectors and the regulator.

From what i've been researching, i dunno if this would work for you  ... Walbro 190, 550's, EPROM ECU w/ Keydiver chip Stage III or DSMLink to control the larger injectors. I know this setup would work for a 1G, but dont know if it also applies to a 2G.
If you decided to go with a Walbro 255 for HIGHER BOOST conditions you're gonna need an AFPR to regulate baseline fuel pressures...

BTW can anyone send me a link to find out more info on the DSMLink? :thumb:

CRAP? :( that sux:(( And no car came bone stock... and i am working on installing those mods right now... Now i am in unknown territory.... and more money to spend again :(( So where and how do i hock up AFC-logger/DSMLINK/MAFT/STANDALONE units? If someone could please explain it to me or link me a FAQ or something. And what exactly do they do? You guys saying that with these mods my injectors and fuel pump would not be able to handle 275 WHP?

You will need at a minimum 550cc injectors at 18PSI. However when I was running 20PSI my FPB 28 - 36LBS/MIN with 550cc injectors I was at over 100% injector duty cycle. So you should probably get a minimum of 650cc just to be safe.

I know most people say all they want is XXXHP but eventually you are gonna want to push the limits of your setup. Especially since you will have everything you need to run 24PSI on that bad boy.

You should get a fuel pump. They are cheap and very easy to install. I think it took me an hour from start to finish. Rewiring your current FP is an option but whats another $90 to protect your investment.

I highly recommend DSMLink for fuel management. It may be an $700 investment but its worth every penny. Many bonuses to the Link like - No lift to shift -Studderbox Launches - and complete control over timing and fuel. If you have the cash (and you do) definately do the job right the first time. To make it even a sweeter deal when it comes time to sell you get almost what you paid for it because everyone knows they rock!

www.dsmlink.com

In summary - 650cc inj (get some used cheap) - walbro 190 - DSMLink

550's are junk. 650's are a better investment. Dsmlink is shownig that im at 80% injector duty :) @ 19 psi

If you're going to use DSMLink and plan on upgrading to a much larger turbo later on (50 trim, 60-1 or even bigger) why not get bigger injectors? DSMlink'll be able to handle those size injectors so you have no real reason why not to.
At least that's what I'm planning on doing...DSMlink and 780's

That was my take on it as well so I upgraded to 850cc injectors.....even though the car idles fine and still gets great mileage it was a tad more difficult to tune the long term fuel trims. I also had longer cranking time before the car would fire up. Medium sized injectors tend to be easier to tune and have less side effects.

I don't understand everybody's obsession with HUGE fuel injectors... I'm sitting at 300 whp and I have 550's. I'm @ aprox 80% duty cycle. Give yourself a break on tuning if 275 whp is your goal and dont' get 700+... 550's are just fine. If you must go larger for your setup, 650's maybe. Oh and yes, you most definately need to upgrade your fuel pump to something. I recommend the Warlbro 255. The lesser Warlbro will do the trick but for a few bucks more you have a much better pump. :thumb:

Most interesting responses! I don’t think be getting DSMLINK or bigger injectors anytime soon but generally with these mods what PSI should I set my Boost Controller and what is a rough estimate on WHP I can get out of current setup? Don’t forget guys this car is daily driver and I still want reliably and decent gas mileage.

however if you go with a walbro 255, you'll definetly need an AFPR where with the 190 you wont, isnt that right?
