I have a walbro 255 and i just got my aeromotive fpr and guage. Do i need to rewire the pump for any reason?

yea man def. rewire that pump, the stock wire is a very thin gauge wire and with the new pump there is going to be lot of voltage drop which means the pump would'nt get the voltage it needed and the pump wouldnt flow as much fuel... there is a vfaq on how to rewire the pump.

Its nice to rewire it but how big of a setup do you plan on running?

Rewiring is more than just getting another 10 lph out of your fp. Its more of getting consistency out of it. The voltage drop across the thin factory wire is enough that you may get 13 volts at one point then it'll drop to 11 then back up to 12, and so on and so forth. A good rewire will make it a constant charge. Its a very very easy and cheap mod. Might as well just do it and get it over with so you know you have a bomb proof fuel set up.

Does rewiring a Walbro decrease its already short life? It seems like more voltage would mean more heat, which would mean shorter life.

Well a buddy of mine had the 255 without the rewire, buzzing from the pump was noticeable but since the rewire you can't really notice it as much. So it seems that the stock wiring isn't suppling enough current needed to run the larger pump. Probably a good idea to rewire it, just as a piece of mind.
