So I swaped out my fuel pump a while back now to a 255 walbro but didnt do the rewire does that make a big difference? I ask because my car now is having problems turning over (it does after 3-6 min of trying) WTF and I heard this could be why..

I had my 255 on the stock wires for like 6 months.I never had any problem like what you speak of.But a couple of days ago I rewired it for something to do.It's easy there is a good vfaq on how to do it it wont cost much to get everything you need.

this is what convinced me to do the rewire, you can form your own opinion about it and go from there. STM's BIG SALE has a sweet deal on the rewire kit btw...

2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Rewire Instructions

its pretty simple ESPECIALLY if you get that kit. i went out and pieced mine together and still spent about the same as if i would have just gotten STM's rewire kit.

In your profile you have no AFPR. Your probably experiencing overrun on the stock FPR and flooding/ running pig rich at idle.

what do you mean? how can that affect you starting your car? I'm just trying to find whats wrong with my car thats why I ask..:banghead:

The coolant temperature sensor checks how hot the engine’s coolant is running. The coolant temp sensor is usually located on the water inlet to the engine. This is in the thermostat housing. The sensor tells the ecu if the engine is cold and has not been warmed up. This activated the enrichening maps in the computer. It is essentially a “choke” for the engine. When engines are cold they need more fuel to run properly until they’ve heated up to a certain temp. Usually the normal fuel maps will be used when the engine reaches within 20 or 30 degrees below where the thermostat opens. That is why it’s important to not lower the thermostat temp or it could keep the engine running rich all the time, wasting fuel. If you have a problem with your coolant sensor you can test it. This test also works for a MAT (manifold air temp) sensor. First check the plug to make sure the wires look good and the plug is tight. Run the car for five minutes. Shut off the car and remove the sensors plug. You will need a volt/ohm meter to check the ohms. Set the ohm meter on 20k ohms. There are three types of temperature plugs. With a single wire sensor, touch the one wire and use the other wire to touch the brass or metal on the sensor. Two wire sensor, just touch the two wires. Three wire temp sensor, touch the center and one of the outers. The ohm value should be higher than 500 ohms or it is not good and needs to be replaced.

I've been running a Walbro 255 High press. pump for a good 3 years/20K miles now without re-wiring and with a stock fuel pressure regulator and injectors. The drivability is great (highway fuel economy is around 27.5 mpg ave. with a best of 30mpg). The car idles/starts perfectly and the only noticeable change was slightly more fuel pump whining at times. The spark plugs are also looking good. This is in a 90 Talon AWD 5-spd with lower mileage.

Therefore, I do NOT subscribe to the over-running the FPR myth.
