Do I have low oil pressure

I just bought a 96 gst and I'm not sure where my oil pressure was at during the first week but now it doesn't idle well on start up and it doesn't boost as well.. Going to get a boost leak tester and check for those but need you guys opinion on my oil pressure

Well your oil pressure at idle should not realy show up on the gauge that well..Add a couple rpms, the oil pressure will go up.

Your freaking out over nothing ATM..

@ 1k rpm your stock boost gauge should not be that far up..

As the rpm drops so will the oil pressure as it raises so will the oil pressure when it does not increase upon rpm increase is when you have an issue.

Put a real gauge in it. A minimum of about 25 to 29 psi is necessary at idle when at operating temperature.

That seems low I put an external gauge and mine at idle was around 65-70 psi look at my build thread.

Actually, even 15 psi at idle fully warmed up is fine.

I get 15 psi oil pressure at 1k rpm ported ofh also. Thats wen fully warm. When cold i see 65-75psi at 1k rpm idle. My built motor just rolled over to 9,730 and everything is great. Your oil weight might also effect your pressure a little, i run 20w50 i believe the minimum acceptable oil pressure at idle is 10psi on a stock motor.

I would say if you are worried about it definitely get an aftermarket gauge, the stock oil pressure gauge isnt very accurate at all and I wouldnt swear by it.

You're fine, the factory gauge is more like an estimate.

Depends where your reading your oil pressure to. Any feed pre oil filter will be about 20psi difference. Now that's on a stock Mitsu filter. Two gauges hooked up I'll have about 25psi off the ofh and about 7-8psi off the head. That's with 10-30 and fully warmed up.
