dies when cold

my 95 tsi dies when i put it in gear but only before it warms up. ive been searching and researching for weeks. things ive tried. tested and adjusted tps. runs better over all afterwards but didnt fix the problem. properly adjusted biss and replaced oring seal. found and fixed my many boost leaks. fixed exhaust leaks by just getting a thermal r&d 3" catback and new exhaust manifold gasket. car is mainly stock except for exhaust and an aftermarket boost gauge.
i recently found some info that makes me lean toward o2 sensor. what do you guys think? should i just go ahead and get a wideband sense i plan to later on anyway? any input would be great thank you....

wideband would be where I would lean on putting in if it only does it when cold the heater in the o2 is dead so untill it warms up the ecu is for lack of a beter words running blind.

So you willl order a part to fix a problem you havent actually diagnosed on your personal car? At least do a check on the sensor.

coolant temp sensor? correct me if im wrong, but if its bad, the ecu wont know how much fuel to deliver to the cylinders, causing a rich condition, and pretty much flooding it, making it harder for it to run until fully warmed up.

Normally cars default to cold when there is an ECT fault but if its shorted internally instead of open it could send a hot reading. Then the ECU would not enrich the mixture and can cause issues. All cars run blind on cold starts because the o2 sensor provides no useful information until its heated.

I don't know if DSMs are an exception to these rules, but rumor has it that there are abnormally dependent on a proper ECT reading.

Did you fix your problem yet? I just started fighting a similar battle today.
