What is the optimal pedal adjustment for these clutches then?

I have a centerforce dual friction clutch and RRE tells me to have it engage almost right off the floor. This sound about right?

I recently had a shop install my 2600 kit and Fidanza flyweel combination. The setup had about 2k-3k miles on it. Heading down the highway with the cruise on at 75mph, my car just falls to idle with no banging, shuddering or the likes. Tow it to the shop, and turns out the clutch disk broke just below the clutch face. I have a street disk. Flywheel and pressure plate are both in great shape. I run about 18lbs of boost...don't get on it that much. How should i handle this? Get a new 2600 clutch plate? A different brand perhaps? Any ideas about what went wrong and what i should do would be a great help.

I had a issue with my act 2600 clutch. The whole center hub section seperated from the disc. Not cool. Just make sure every single bolt is in the trans. Even that little 8mm bolt, that goes threw the the transfer side of the trans. Also makes sure you have all the dowel pins in and arent ovaled. I just replaced my clutch with a spec stage two+ its awesome. Just have to make sure that the trans is aligned with the engine. Sounds like that was your issue for your cluch messing up on you.

I've had problems with the 2600 street disc that came in the kit. I just bought another street disc and it's working just find... maybe you got one with a defect or the alignment was off.

I have heard alot of people having troubles with the ACT 2600 street disk. And from what I have seen it is hard to get a free replacement for the defective product. You should try out the XTD clutch. I run a stage 4 with a 6 puck sprung disk. It holds 25 psi plus a 55 shot with no problems and street driving is not bad at all.

I would stay away from ANY puck disks...

ACT has had numerous problems over the years, but that is still my clutch of choice for a daily driven "race car".

Sounds like your clutch had a "mild failure" so you should be able to re-use your pressure plate and flywheel. I would contact ACT to see what they say. Did buy it new or used?

I had the same thing happen!!! I sent the disk back to RoadRace and ACT sent me a new one overnight!!

I found this by searching. I was wondering if anyone experienced the pressure plate on the ACT clutch set breaking? I bought this 2100 kit 6 months ago. The clutch has 10,000 miles on it. My car is a stock 2g with an exahust. I don't really see a reason for this happening...

Yep, Brand new clutch and flywheel.... Just 5 months old, most of that time was break in period too... Disc is in near perfect condition...

Last pic is what I moved to.... Fidanza 3.2 kevlar clutch... with a sprung 4 puck.... It actually feels a lot better than the 2100... Not as jerky and engages very smooth. Very easy to drive off the bat, never stalled it. I dont roll back on a hill like with the 2100... Let my 500mi break in period start as of 11:00 last night.. LOL

That is something different from my original thread (this one). So ACT should replace that free of charge. If you paid for labor you are screwed on that, if you are like me you did it yourself. If you want a walkthrough on how to do it yourself, check out the Tech Article I did in the Drivetrain forum. It has a full step by step pictures and in some cases even the bolts. This is for a 1g.

Ya anything that isnt really bolt on, I bring it to a mechanic that does work on the side that my buddy introduced me to.. Im not soo mechanically inclined as some on here, although I wish I was...

So there is a good chance ACT may replace it for free? I have not phoned them yet, and i'm thinking when I do phone them to leave out that I already bought a new non ACT clutch..... What you guys think? I am thinking they may want me to send it to them to see if it was my fault... They may be thinking there was too much power for the clutch, which in my case is not it, because my car is basically stock.. I still have the bill from Extreme psi as well as the clutch and pictures.....

How does the clutch feel/react when the pressure plate fingers break off?
(I'm curious as I've never had that happen before)

Well I made a thread up pertaining to this problem when it first came up... And I was driving in the morning around to a few places, all was well.... I talk to a few buddies, make plans to go out for a few drinks and eats.. So I drive home, pull into the driveway, change clothes, inside for no more than 10 minutes, come out side, start my car... As I push the clutch in to start, it does feel a tad looser than usual but I think nothing of it... Car starts, go to put it into R..... wont go, try multple times, thinking sometimes it takes one or 2 tries because thats just how it is, but not since I got my new B&M shifter and what not.... So the 4th or 5th time, I decide to use a little bit more muscle to get it into R, not a lot though... It grinds like crazy so I jam it back into N... Try putting it into any other gear while car is started isnt happening... While car is off I can get into all gears fine.. Once car is started, no way it was going into any gear... Kinda weird I thought how in a matter of 10 minutes it will not work.. So im debating when I should phone the company and tell them exactly what happen.. I know the sooner would be better.... Any input would be appreciated... Thanks

i bought a act 2600 with the street disc and within a thousand miles the disc exploded. i wasnt driving it hard or launching it. when i took the trans out to see what happened i saw the disc in two pices the outer ring seperated. i sent it in to act and they didnt respond back yet. iam now running a act 6 puck sprung disc and its still working. the quality control at act isnt there anymore.

I finally got my RGA # from them, I phoned them about 4 weeks ago and was told by someone that they will phone me back with one or something.. So I waited a few days.... a week... then 2 weeks... and was like ok they arent phoning me back, that was Sept. 30th I talked to someone.... Now I finally had time before I head to work to phone them up again, and the guy who I named to the person I talked to today doesnt even ring a bell with him, so I was like wtf??? Anyways.... So he said after they inspect it, if it is indeed the clutches fault, then they will figure out what to do, replacing it or whatever, but if it is MY fault, it is a $50 inspection fee.....
So I pay $400+ for the clutch and shipping and installation, have it break on me in 5 months... then have to pay for the shipping back to ACT, which will be pricey because it weighs like 20lbs, then possibly have to pay them another $50 on top of that if its my fault.....

Anyone else send their clutch back??? And with what results have you had...? I know not many people have had the teeth of the pressure plate snap off like that.

ok its round 2 for my act pp. Already replaced once for 5 or 6 figures breaking off the pp.
And here we go again, broke another one off the new one they sent!!!

They sent a replacement out rite away seeing that i already had an issue, also getting a new street disk from them. But the good news is i didn't spend a dime this time around (payed 50 for shipping last time)

So have any A.C.T failures? post them up here. Maybe if there's enough post ill send the page to A.C.T so they can see what kind of product they are making!!!:notgood:

ACT 2100 explosion. Had about 440 h.p./395 lb-ft. Shattered like a cheap mirror but surprisingly almost never slipped when the clutch was warmed up.

First hand I've only seen one actually "fail". It was the clamping/flat surface of the pressure plate where it meets the friction disk. The owner had it break into two pieces on his 88 turbo II RX-7 i worked on. The owner claimed to have been running against a stang and shifted into 2nd gear around 9k RPM when all the sudden his car started shaking violently and he couldn't get the clutch to do anything; grab, release, nothing.

I had him tow the car back to my place, the next day I pulled the trans and there was pieces everywhere, but the main disk part of the pressure plate had just straight split in half.. i was like WOW!

Other than that i've personally worn out 3 of them and never had an issue with anything breaking. I've smoked 2 2100's and the last 2600 that was in my car was fine but was worn to thin to continue to use, so i replaced it with another PP and friction disk.

Something like this?

Update on my situation..... Returning the clutch paid off... They gave me a brand new pressure plate, and just returned my tob, and disc because they were still good... The tob wasnt even used, I used an OEM one..... I recently just sold the kit to someone on this site.

I have been blessed with bad drivetrain luck for a while now. I was cruising down interstate under enough load to maintain highway speed, RPMs started climbing and soon enough I was roadside - made some calls and loaded the car 3 hours later.

Is this unusual? There is seriously like 5k on the clutch, what are the chances ACT would make good? It has seen 0 hard launches and its on a FWD.
