Dejon Intake Question installation

Hey guys i just bought a dejon tool curved intake pipe for my 1997 gst. Currently i still have the stock T-25. When i have taken off the accordian intake before, i noticed this black rubber "sleeve" that fits over the inlet of the turbo. Can anybody tell me if i need to keep this rubber sleeve on the turbo when i install the dejon intake or should i take it off. What does this rubber "sleeve" do? Also, can anybody tell me what kind of performance gains i might get from this intake (ex: spool time, hp, etc.) Thanks

I take it you haven't received or put on the dejon intake yet? If the coupler he sends fits snug around the compressor inlet, you can save the sleeve for something else. If the coupler is a little loose around the compressor inlet, use the sleeve to pad the space. I have to keep the sleeve in my ExtremePsi intake with my 14b.

As far as how much horsepower you'll gain from it.... it will vary from car to car and therefore no one can say. What you might expect is louder BOV sound and possibly louder spool sound. Spool time shouldn't increase any measurable amount.

The sleeve is required on smaller inlet turbos such as the T-25, 14B, 16G, 18G and TD05-20G. The beauty of his setup is that you can eventually step up to turbo with a larger inlet design, remove the sleeve and use the existing coupler.

For now, put the sleeve on and clamp the larger coupler over the top. A better design would be to buy a reducer from the pipe to the compressor inlet, but this works well enough.

I also have a Extreme PSI intake bolted up to the Stock T-25.

When I slid the coupler on, it fit on pretty well, not super tight, but probably wouldn't pull off either. I just tightened the couplers and it's been fine ever since. The rubber sleeve still sits inside my stock airbox in my garage.

You will definetly notice louder spool, infact, everytime you start boosting, you will hear an obvious whistling noise. BOV noise will also be greatly improved, although I don't really listen for mine as it blends in to all of the other noises.

Sounds aside, I didn't really see a huge gain from the intake. Sure, it may have helped spool up time/throttle response, but this really isn't the mod to do if you want to make a lot of HP on a stock turbo just by replacing the intake. The stock airbox seemed to flow just fine for the T-25. You would probably feel the greatest difference going from the stock airbox on a 16g or the like and then swapping to a hard intake and open element filter.

Yeah, i just bought the intake on Monday from dejon. I'm hoping it will come on Thurs. Thanks for the help
