well as some of u know my car has been down for about 2 1/2 weeks now...

i got it towed to a local mech that my warranty was covered by so he can fix it for free, but its been a crappy wait so long

first he said 2 days he can get the car running again (saturday and sunday off, mon tues i should have it wed), then i call back on tues to see how its going and he says he has to get a warranty tech to see it, which would be 2moro ( thursday), thurs tech is a noshow, so friday, friday he finally comes and tells the mech that they will call with approval monday, and mech goes ill start on it mon, monday comes around and he says the warranty didn;t call back yet with approval, but he has the parts ready, so he calls me mon at 4:30 and says warranty called with approval, and he will start tues, i give him 2 days and on thurs i call back he said somehting about his tool was broken and he needed a new one, which comes in on saturday, so itll be done monday (today), so i call today and he says he ordered a part from detroit and it still dind;t come, so i tell him i thought u had all the parts and he starts giving me some bs about my warranty isn;t supposed to cover the broken part but he made it so it will

im not sure if the warranty is supposed to cover it or not, but i feel if i keep arguing with him it may be true and he wont do it, then ill be jacked out of a working engine.

anyone have any help for me?

i also called warranty about a rental, they said they pay 1/2, but i dont feel like dropping a 100$ on a rental car for a week + gas and mileage

i asked about changing mech station and they said they will have to start the whole process all over again, which would mean another minimum of 2 weeks

Warrany companies are all crooks. I work for an insurance co and am all to familiar with the process by which they will wear you down until you give up.

I would call the warrantly company and say that you were contacting a lawyer. If this fails to expedite, document everything in a letter and send copy of your complaint to the Warranty Company/Shop. If you know a lawyer, using their letterhead/or having them call the warranty company would be optimal.

Good luck! :talon:

so you think waiting any longer would not prove useful at all?

i could call them and fake myself being a lawyer, i am taking business law in college :D

Sounds to me like it is not actually the mechanics fault. All too often I see mechanics being blamed for pushing stuff off and giving customers the "run around" when actually insurance/warrenty companies are the ones screwing around. Its possible he's a bad mechanic, but I can say from experience (I'm a mechanic myself) that when insurance companies, or in your case warrenty companies get involved, everything is always "tommarow", "later this week" or "next monday". Sucks for the customer, as well as the mechanic who has to do deal with the customer. Meanwhile the insurance/warrenty company hears none of the complaints and just show up when they find the time.

Good luck with your car. And as I said, may be a bad mechanic, but from experience, Id say he was being truthful about the whole warrenty crap.

i udnerstand that the warranty doesn;t want to pay for the parts, thats how they make money, but y not tell the truth, i would have rather heard the warranty company is w.e not I have the parts waiting for confirmation, then after confirmation the parts are still coming.

I called the warranty, I called the mech, and I called a lawyer and got this all straightened out, hopefully Ill have my car back within the next few days. Magic how a lawyer can get a part from Detroit to Ney Jersey faster than Fedex.

It's a sad world we live in these days when it takes a lawyer to get someone to make good on a promise :toobad:

I bought an '02 Mercury Mountaineer and have had it in for warranty service on the tranny 3times!!! The last time it sat in the shop for a week waiting for the extended warranty company to signoff on the work order and they gave me a POS Garand Marquis rental. A little chat with the warranty co and mention of a lawyer, it was done two days later.

Moral.. Fords are a POS but warranty cos are the TP you use to wipe your ass with.
