Resolved Data Port not getting Power

My apologize if i missed a thread when searching. I was unable to find a like thread.

Does anyone have experience with the Data Port in terms of connection and power routing?

1) Tried to use my boss's Bluetooth OBII Reader and works on several cars including my Gs, wifes jeep etc. However when I plug into my GST I am getting no power what so ever.

2) Car did have various things installed (that no longer function) like motion sensor. I have checked the immediate path of the data port and its not hacked or sliced. I have read that it could be a bad ground as well, That being said which ground would most likely be the culprit ?

Pretty sure I checked. however i do not have the cover and unsure if i saw the right picture maybe. Which number would it be...? I would defiantly be willing to check again.

Does the cigarette lighter work? A lot of cars I've seen power the obd port with the same fuse.

10A fuse #11 in the relay box under the hood.

Checked the 10a fuse in relay box and is good. The Cigarette lighter does not work not sure why so will trace that down and see if that helps. on my gs the lighter didn't work either but the data port did but still worth fixing regardless.

Have you checked pin 16 for +12v with a multimeter?
Checked pin 4 for continuity to chassis ground?

Not sure about the DSMLink I am leaning at no but haven't checked yet.( is there an way way to tell or gotta take the ecu out?)

I will check the ports tomorrow my multimedia died so gotta grab a new one.

As Steve mentioned, you may want to check the diagnostic port for power. The information below is helpful even if you do not have ECMLink. I have had issues with Bluetooth devices connecting to 2g's with 95 ECUs. I can get power, but they do not connect to the ECU.

Here is information quoted from ECMTuning:

Diagnostic port wiring
If you get desperate and need to confirm that the basic wiring in the car is correct, use the following information to buzz out the connections between the OBDII adapter and the ECU. Note that the image below is of the connector in the car, not the ECMLink adapter.

Pin 1 Diagnostic line to ECU (connector B-55, pin 56, yellow)
Pin 5 Ground
Pin 7 Data line to ECU (connector B-55, pin 62, pink)
Pin 16 +12v unswitched power
Pin 16 can be connected to ECU pin 80 (connector B-56, Red-Blue) if needed.

Pin 5 can use a chassis ground point.

You can get information on ECU connector pin locations from the ECUWiringInformation page.

If pin 16 does not show power (it should have 12v at all times when measured against pin 5), the fuse powering this pin may be blown. The same fuse powers the key illumination ring, the lights in the rear view mirror, the foot light under the dash, and also provides battery backup power to the ECU. It's labeled in the shop manual as dedicated fuse #11. It is located under the hood in the main fuse box. Looking down at the fuse box standing in front of the car, fuses #11 and #12 are grouped together in a yellow clip located in the lower left hand corner of the fuse box. The lid of the fuse box labels fuse #11 as Room Lamp.

You can also do a basic check against the diag pin (pin 1) of the OBD-II connector. Check the voltage on the cars' OBD-II pin 1 without the ECMLink adapter attached. It should be ~5V or higher. If not, something is grounding it. This can make the ECU behave oddly, prevent ECMLink communication, and may cause problems with your locks.

Please use care when checking the diagnostic port pins. If you jam the typical multimeter probes into the pins, you can stretch the pins enough that they may not make proper contact with the ECMLink connector.
