Alright well the cable wasn't working so I took apart the rs-32 side, it had two little bolts. Found that one wire wasn't connected to anything. This is for a palm logger by the way, not a laptop... Alright since I don't know what side is up and what side is down, we will say that the row with five pins is the top and the row with four pins is the bottom. Well the top left, pin 1 has a blue resistor?? it has one dark red stripe near pin one and two black stripes right next to it. And on the other side of it, it has a red strip. The other side of this resistor?? connects to pin three. Pin three has also two more wires connected to it and another little piece I am guessing is the diode?? which is connected to pin four also. Now I have one wire that isnt connected to anything . Any help please. Thanks mucho.

Hey thanks muchacho, guess I read it backwards to yall. I guess the wire that isnt connected is my ground. Does it matter if the resistor and diode is connected to the pins, or do they need to be connected to the wires?

So pin five, the ground has the resistor and its connected to pin three. But the picture shows it connected to pin two. But pin two and three from the picture are connected to each other, so does this matter?

Any pictures of this setup? all that I look at are all old and not showing up.

If they are connected to the wires and the wires are connected to the pins, then they are connected to the pins.

When you look at the RS232 connector from the top it should look like the schematic.

No pics, sorry. If you google image you can find a thumbnail from the old page.
