What data logger does everyone recommend? I am looking to purchase one, but never really needed one before. Always had someone else tune it out for me. Any suggestions would be great.

A palm 3 is what i used to have. Tune your car yourself its more of a logger, it helps tuning but you need more than that, wideband, evoscan, ecmlink, flashed ecu.

Well right now I have a flashed eprom. I'm looking for a logger to monitor the current setup and for it to help me to determine where I can improve on things. I know I'm going to buy a bigger turbo soon, as the one on the car is just way to small. I am planning to get a wideband next then the logger. I just did a eprom socket and tune with some 680 injectors. Also swapped to a 2g maf and I'm hoping to get my fmic and hard pipes installed this weekend. So after I get my wideband next will be a data logger. So I am trying to do some research and find out what I will need and will best suit my goals and so on.

Ok, Im seeing that these are basically palm pilots, but what about the logging software? Also are there any logging software's for the droid based phones? I guess my questions are other than the palm 3c what else would I need? Serial port to connect to the OBD or the blue tooth adapter deal? What software would I need? Cant I just connect that to a laptop? I have a spare netbook I could easily make a place for in the car to data log is why im asking, however if I can blue tooth it to my droid phone, then thats always in the car with me anyway.

I just found something on ebay from 1gLink.com that claims its a data logger "kit" that comes with everything needed to data log. Has anyone used this setup before? I have seen 1glink before but never used them personally. are they reputable, and are they quality products?

I recently got a kit from 1glink.com. What I received was what was billed.

The only issue I ran into was downloading from the palm using windows 7. I could not make the USB interface work. I ended up using a USB to serial interface adapter to download from the palm. There are more posts on this on the 1glink forums.

I am still working to understand what the data is trying to tell me.

I think I saw your FS thread, and was considering getting it from you this weekend when I get back home and can get my finances into the right account to do any paypal transactions. I keep the account associated with my paypal nearly empty since I had someone try and hack it before. Learned from that one. Is the 91 TSi OBD1 or OBD2? I am nowhere near it, so I honestly have no idea and cant really go open the door and look. LOL

I may go check his stuff out when I get home too, as I live like 20 min from him. Atleast the guy that runs 1glink. Wifey is going to be out of town, so if I happen to spend some money she will not know till next week. HAHAHA:sneaky:

thanks for the input too.

A 1991 would be OBD1.

:thumb:65 buckaroos is a good price for the complete setup. I paid quite a bit more. I was impressed with the functions. It also stores the log so you can go back and look at it.

That's not a bad deal at all. Wished I didn't have to pay my Parole Officer this week..... :-/

I pieced a set together with a Palm Vx (non-color), + DSMCables w/OEM connection, and a Serial to USB cable for a touch more than 65 bucks. When Palm shopping, you do want the ones with a color screen. I wished I had snagged one of those instead.

I got a Micro Connectors Serial to USB PLU # 4959741 running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and it transfers logs flawlessly on my desktop, and my (inherited) MacBook laptop (running Windows 7 Ult 64) Also I had to get a Null Modem Adapter to run Tunerstein on my laptop with that serial to usb adapt.
