I just got home from a friends house and he had a simple serial data cable to hook to a laptop, I couldnt find anything on the boards soooooooo I asked him to borrow the cable and he agreed. One end has the serial plug shell and the other has 2 wires, one that splits in 2(has 1 cable comming out but has another connector daisy chained onto it. Im good with electronics and want to make the cable myself, there is not chip or anything in it. I poped the connector shell off and its just a resistor which I got the value from and there appears to be a diode of some sort resembles a zener type. I was wondering If anyone knows what that value would be so I can buy the part and also the better thing would be a schematic.
