Ebay data logging cable/software

I bought a data logging cable along with software off of ebay for like 45 bux or something. I was going to hook it up to my labtop, but ran into a problem. The cable plugs into a serial port on a computer. My labtop dosnt have a serial port though. So, I went to Radio Shack and bought an adapter that converts the serial port into a printer port. So now I have everything installed on my computer and the cable hooked up.

I can't get the logging going though. What I was wondering is, has anyone else used an adapter similar to this and had no trouble with logging? Or is it something else possibly that is incorrect.

I thought about doing that. The serial usb converter is 40 dollars while the adapter I bought was only 5.


I was just wondering if anyone has done what I did and had it work.

I honestly think it's not working just because it's plugged into the printer port but I don't have any personal experience. Sorry.


BTW, you're emachine sits on TOP of your LAP right? Laptop bro, not labtop. That's what Defiant was poking fun at.

yeah, it's maybe the wrong place to connect the cable on your laptop. take a usb converter to serial DB9 male, and you gonna be ok.

other than the printer port, your laptop should have 1 male and 1 female. The male is 9 pin, and the female accepts 15. Try getting an adapter for one of the those. otherwise the computer is waiting for a printer not anything else.
