Damn those things are bad ass I want so bad I found a couple will they at least work if I bought one

If you used the search button you would find 3000 threads about them. They work but need actuators to work properly and a bit of custom fabbing. Basically the gains are minimal compared to the effort needed to make them work.

For it to be an upgrade, you'd need a 1g head and a way to make the actuators work as mentioned already. The 1g head has different intake port shapes that match the Cyclone intake ports. If you want a stock looking intake manifold that's an upgrade for your 2g, look into an EVO3 or RVR intake manifold. They have a bit bigger plenum and shorter runners.

I dont consider 1g head a down grade. 1g heads have bigger ports than a 2g iirc. the use of a cyclone is basically to speed up the spool of the turbo since its forcing air down the 4 open runners. The butterflys can by activated a couple ways. Easiest way to do so is running a wastegate actuator to the valve.

Thats true but a 2g head with smaller ports have a high velocity giving more low end power, the cyclone intake really wont do anything unless you have a bigger turbo than it "supposedly" helps spool time.

But idk there was a time i wanted one but then i seen a dyno sheet on a site somewere and it dropped hp and i changed my mind.

I have one on my car and i used dsmlink to actuate it. It works awesome with the 16g i noticed a big difference. I am in the process of a build and will be running a large turbo so im not sure if i want to choke it out using a cyclone. I think it would be more like a dam for the air rather then a good flowing sheet metal intake.

All in all the cyclone has been one of my favorite mods for a daily driven street car. You can use a cyclone on a 2g head. I found it in one of the forums. A member on here made his own gasket to fit it to the 2g head. I dont have much more info on this other then that.

I think that the concept is correct, however, people are not using it properly. I originally was looking into this thread to see what the id of the intake port was to match it to another throttle body. I don't like the 1g, although 60mm, because it has so many extra useless ports. so I found a couple. I am running a "stock" 20g with my 1g, 880 injectors. If I can get it to spool with the actuator better I think it will just be a good car all around. I am running mine on an electric actuator as I am not pushing much more than stock.

This is a very old thread, but generally speaking the most gains are shown when you actuate it at 4500-5500 rpm. Irregardless of boost or etc. @MindBlowin03 has awesome info on the cyclone on his 2G and has dyno sheets showing before and after. Wealth of info.
