Cyclone Intake

Is the cyclone intake a good upgrade? Is there big difference form the normal intake verse the cyclone? Also what DSM's came stock with the cyclone intake?

As far as I know there were no Dsm that came stock with the dual runner cyclone intake manifold it was a jdm part as I use that term loosely...they are said to improve torque

It's a good upgrade from the USDM intake in that it helps with low end torque and then at high rpm's it helps with the top end horsepower thanks to the dual runner system. There is a how to article on the site that explains the benefits as well as way to hook it up. If you have emissions where you live it's a pain to add it to the emissions control system as I have found...but doable. Definitely worth the effort.

I wouldn't run it with anything less than a 14B. IMO smaller turbos such as 14B, 16G and 20G's would benefit from the cyclone intake.

Yeah the JDM GVR4's had the cyclone intake. Definitely a great upgrade for a 1G head if you're wanting better low end torque and mid-range. If you are 100% all about high RPM and top end and couldn't care less about torque, faster spool up times, or throttle response, just go with a SMIM.




Also, unless you have a flow-bench to test how to properly fill in the runners without restricting flow, don't try to put it on a 2G head either. Waste of a cyclone and the velocity just won't be right unless you have the tools I mentioned to prove otherwise.

Yeah the 2G head is made differently from the 1G. It has been reworked for better air velocity. has more in common with the 420a head than the 1G head.

The key is having it activate correctly, plumbing straight to boost/vac isn't correct and you wont notice much if anything at all

Well they have several how to articles on how to properly activate the cyclone and I can tell exactly when it kicks in. Those who use it like it, but as stated before there are certain stipulation you have to keep in mind.
