So I have this old venom intake mani lying around and was thinking about putting it on but I don't want to lose torque so I was thinking of cutting the runners and making then longer like the oem one. In theory it should help right? Does that sound like it would work? I don't plan on pushing more than 30lbs so hopefully the welds will hold but if any one has any input let me know please

Sell this guy : DSM Forums - View Profile: TSiAWD666 your intake manifold..as he's been looking for one for a while..

And get a EVO3/RVR Manifold for your 2g and send it to Curt Brown : 70mm Ported EVOm manifolds .... He does these for EVO 8/9's and EVO 3 manifolds...

You will likely end up breaking even or making money .

Thats the route i'd take if I were you... Curt has my EVO3 intake manifold right now doing the port/70mm TB flange for new high compression compound turbo setup auto build..

I've dealt with plenty of long and short runner SMIM's ...they all lose torque and low end like crazy .... also Hacking up and adding to a SMIM seems like a bad idea..

Why not chop the plenum off the venom, cut the top off the stock manifold and weld the round plenum to the stocker.
BTW 30psi may not sound like a lot in the turbo world but in the welding world it is a lot.

Buschur tried that (adding a larger fabricated plenum to the stock runners) a few years ago and it lost power across the board.

I guess that's not to say that it cannot be done a bit differently and still be sucessful.

Brent Bennyhoff recently built a long runner, large plenum manifold for his 1G and it looks very promising.

I think I found the problem in your post :)

Right on. LOL As I was typing that, it crossed my mind that I've never trusted his tests before and I'd be foolish to start now. That's why I added the bit about there being potential for someone else to do it right/better and see good results. :)

Isn't the Evo mani's for 6-bolts though? And it's the rectangular venom manifold I'd and pics but I can't figure how on my phone I've also tried selling it but no one ever buys it

Evo 1-3 are 7-bolt. Not sure if the ports are larger on Evo 1-3 heads, but I assume you would port out the head and mani so it wouldn't matter much anyways.

Evo 3 intake manifold is for the 7 bolt head

Ask me how i know ROFL

I seriously doubt the welds on that manifold will hold even 30 psi. I have a buddy that had his cracked around each runner with lower boost.
