After looking at the DIY thread to use a stock catback with the 3" exhaust and cutout, I came up with the idea of using a evo 8 or 9 axle back instead of the eclipse one for flow purposes and retain the quiet characteristics of stock. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they have a valve operation system to control flow through the exhaust, I'm not sure how it would work but If I were to DIY this and go through with it, would it be worth it. I want to have the quiet for just regular driving but when I want to be heard they'll hear it.

They also make something you can put in the tip of your aftermarket catback exhaust called an "active silencer." It opens up at WOT but when your not driving agressive it silences the exhaust to sound like your stock, problem is your still running a coffee can out the back.
