Hello guys and gals,

I'm facing a few issues that just leave me stumped currently and I believe I have them down to a few options but just not feeling justified in throwing more money at a vehicle in the hopes that it resolves an issue.

Some background on the car - It's a 96 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, nearly stock save for exhaust system, fmic, and ECU which was traded out with a 95' Eprom ECU.

Issue #1 : CTS - We've been having issues with a code popping up that the CTS is not seeing the proper coolant temp for Closed Loop operation. I have traded out CTS for a brand new one, both the oval style with a pigtail swap and the original clip style that seems so damn hard to find. Neither one reported proper results and the code keeps returning. I sadly cannot get Evoscan to connect - as I have that handy due to the fact that I log my 98 with the setup, so I have no way to see what the values the ECU is seeing are. This one has me scratching my head. I don't want to invest several hundred dollars in a "tuning solution" just to view the damn coolant temp.

I know there are some issues with locating the 'right' CTS, but my issue is that I'm wondering if the ECU is expecting certainly values which are only needed in the early 95' vehicles as this is a 95 ECU, but can't read the 96 sensor properly which is what matches the car.

Issue #2 : Overdrive stumble - When driving at about 10-15% throttle, 45-55mph, when the vehicle goes to shift into overdrive it hesitates. The RPMs bounce up and down about 200rpm, which you can clearly feel, and it never shifts fully into OD. If you give it some more fuel and let it speed up, it will slip into OD just fine. This issue sounded to me like a clutch end pack so I ordered the IPT pack, installed, and am having the exact same issue. Aside from smoother and quicker shifts overall, this issue is still apparent. In frustration I have not touched the car since yesterday afternoon but my question here is - What are the symptoms of a clogged filter and what would effect only the transition into OD?

Just looking for some insight before I set the car on fire.
