yes, we are at another hault. the problem... $$$$$. Not to worry, soon there will be enough for another order and we can continue our build. We're not giving up on this project like some have because of lack of funds. :-(

As soon as something happens, I'll let ya know.

Good luck gentlemen and ignore the detractors. I applaud anyone who takes a big leap to learn something new.

Keep us posted and keep at it!

Cleaned up some junk in the thread.

Thanks L2RTsiAWD! :thumb: That kid has been such a nuisance. Thanks for all the support guys! We are ordering some more parts this comming friday and we hope to complete the longblock within the next few weeks. School and money has been delaying this project but once we're done mid-may it'll be back in full swing.

:nono: 4 times as fast actually

ummmm, pretty sure the crank rotates TWICE to the cams 1 rotation there bud! 2:1 ratio. I can see where the confusion comes in tho, but remember the piston goes all the way up AND down in one rotation of the crank :thumb:

sorry man i must've read your response wrong. i'll take some pictures but... it's pretty nasty..dusty

hey i dont' know if i missed this I just read the entire thread....good job on everything your doing I would kill to be able to do that...I'm glad to see you didn't go with the AFC I had a dsm link on my last talon and now when i bought this one of a friend it had the SAFC and i can't stand it

I didn't notice if your getting a throtle body look into a 1g if you don't have one already and also i would sugest scraping the 2g intake mani and going with 1g or if you have the money go magnus and an accu fab throtle bodybut thats pretty expensive

i got my 1g intake mani and throtle body and the diffrence seemed like night and day...you would especially notice with a larger turbo im just running a 14b

Yea we already got a 1g intake mani we got port matched to the head and high-temp painted :thumb: 1g Throttlebody is on the list

thanks for the support!

I have a Greddy Profect E-01 i'll sell you for your New ride..all you need is the E-managemnt it work Directly with the E-01 i'll take 400 Shipped..if your intrested..i Also would Agree you Upgrade your injectors the stock 450 is going to give you crazy Fuel cut once you start pushing hi-boost and the 2100 is great for a Few passes but i would Diffently get the act 2600. Centerforce is not worth it..your better off with ACT..by the way i'm new the the DSM's, i use to be a honda guy shyt still own a Integra...but i'm learning.

Hey everyone, just stumbled across this thread, gonna take me some time to read through it all. Just wanted to give some moral backyard support!!! Rock on fellow WI DSMers!! Best of luck with the project guys :thumb: :talon:

We've done the calculations on RC Engineering website and have decided on the 950cc injectors for our setup. The clutch we have purchased is the slowboyracing 3500? 3600? dont remember the # but is also appropriate for our setup. so far, has been a well-rated clutch in these forums.

A little update.. long block was practically completely assembled this week. We have pictures that I will post soon, maybe even tommorow.

some pics of the longblock. Ordered the Mach V girdle sleeve kit which is on backorder so the oil pan wasn't bolted on yet. We're just gonna bolt it up and put them in later. Got all cobalt autometer gauges, and almost every other part we planned on getting. All new bolts, new gaskets.. god.. everything is brand new. SBR also hooked us up with their first re-circulating o2 sensor housing! We are still awaiting arrival of at least.. 2 more large orders but for the most part all of the parts we need have either arrived or are in the mail.

We got an www.alienauto.com exhaust manifold and a www.extremeintercoolers.com 10.5in. 2g intercooler kit. DSM LINK and MAF translator parts are starting to come in and geez i dunno. We're almost to a point where we can just turn some wrenches and start seeing some major progress. :thumb: I'm so excited!!!!!

All of that and you're still on the stock 2G head, throttle body, and... *gasp* intake manifold!? Talk about a bottle neck. Should have at least gotten all of the stock 1G counter parts.

NVM, read that at least you got the head p&ped with a multi angle job.

*giggles :sneaky:

betcha never thought it'd be done!

Theres more parts I was just taking pics of one lying around. I believe all the parts have come.. except for the girdle kit from MACH V. its on a 3-4 week backorder.

All we need now is.. EGR blockoff plate, fuel pump re-wire kit (which i already have), 95 ECU to use with DSM Link.. umm some sticky tires to mount on his 5 spoke BRONZE rims with a polished lip ;) anddd.... i believe thats its! the rest is assemble.. OHH AXLES we need new axles. enjoy the pics!

wow im really surprised to see that u didn't go with a smim on that thing...is the head built also..?....u should have went externally gated with that turbo man....it seems ur doing good with the assembley....the semi-major things weren't done the way they should have been....think of it this way....u got a nice fmic flowing into a stock intake manifold... then into a stock head....then ur going into a crazyy exhaust manifold...to a nice 02 housing into a 3 inch exhaust....ur losing so much power by not building ur head and by not getting a smim....invest in them

nvm head is built but...that stock intake mani is gonna hurt u...invest in that and ur setup for ur air will be bullet proof

i know that part of our setup is a major bottleneck we've realized. it will be addressed!

but for now.. isnt that thing just puuurty? :)

the turbo came internally gated. how come we can't use that?

If everything flows well (except for intake mani) you may find it flows too well and with an internal gate you can get boost creep.

Maybe with the mani being a little restrictive it may hold off the boost creep a bit.

That being said - Great project guys - keep it going.

wow, i just finished reading that whole thread. i remember reading it before a long time ago before it sounded like you guys knew what you were doing. but after reading the whole thing it sounds like you learned a lot about what you didn't know. mad props on what looks to be a job well done (well, almost done). i'm about to get started on my own buildup, but that's for another thread.

anyways, there was something i wanted to ask nug and ky about... but damn it, this thread is so long i forgot what it was... well one thing i remember i wanted to ask about: did you guys remove the balance shafts? if not and you want to, do it before you put the engine back in the car. it will be MUCH easier on the stand. you'll have to take the whole timing belt side of it apart to do it, but it will be well worth the time and trouble.

i have to go back and find what it was i wanted to ask about before. i'll post again soon.

ok, so i went back and reviewed. could you guys re-update your parts list. it still doesn't look like you've done much for the fuel system other than the giant injectors. and something else minor that i didn't see addressed: hard pipes. make sure you get some solid intercooler pipes and a solid intake pipe. (if you haven't all ready) that should be a given, but i just thought i would double check since i didn't read anything about that on this post.

lastly, that tubular manifold is SICK (in a good way). was it not available in stainless?

again, very nicely done so far. and i think it's great you guys have kept such a positive attitude. even if you may have evoked some of the bashing by immediately jumping on and asking newB questions, you took the criticism well and have made up for it. keep the updates and the pictures coming and let us know how it turns out.

i need to start one of these about my buildup.

wow, im loving the feedback. i actually just got home from the kyguys.. we were slamming back some Bud Selects and wrenching away.

turns out.. i had a spare head laying in my garage with the 1g intake manifold and TB...
I hit myself on the head several times not realizing this before hand and taking advantage of the situation but theres nothing i can do about it now. Its dirty.. but it works. Cleaned up the mani and TB as much as I could in about 20 minutes and slapped it on. So the intake and TB problem.... SOLVED.

As for the turbo being internally gated and not externally.. you guys are starting to scare me. I hope we dont see too much boost creep but if we do action will be taken. As of RIGHT NOW we will not be changing the turbo wastegate setup but after it is running and tuning has gone into effect we will find out if it is necessary. I'm glad you guys have brought this up so thanks. :)

Anubis: Balance shafts have been removed and bearings turned to cover up the oil holes. Oil squirters have also been welded shut to reduce the block from robbing more oil pressure. Tubular manifold was available in SS but the owner of the car didnt really care about the looks and decided to save some money so it was purchased in RAW form which still is an eye-catcher. If overtime it just gets too ugly for him he'll just have to throw on some thermal-tape and become in love all over again. ;) The intercooler kit we purchased from http://www.extremeintercoolers.com came with hard intercooler piping powdercoated black. We also have a hard intake pipe that came with the car when purchased lying around somewhere..

The parts list is constantly changing. Not so much anymore but for a while it was madness. When we are getting closer to the end of all this I will make sure Kyle posts another updated list to show everyone how much SHIT has been dropped into this motor. SBR must love us for all the 2k+ orders we have given them in the past.. 2 months. :)
Which BTW they have given us great service throughout our entire fiasco. Thanks guys!

As for the fuel system so far the only mods have been Walbro 255Hp fuel pump, FIC 950cc injectors, Adjustable FPR with B&M fuel gauge mounted on, fuel pump re-wire kit, and a brand spankin' new filter.

Update: as for an update of the progress tonight the Kyguy and I bolted up the 1g intake manifold and TB and also managed to bolt up the Fidanza 8lb. flywheel and SBR clutch. We were about to bolt up the tranny, complete with a fresh TOB but we are having much trouble finding all the bolts we need. 12:30 rolled around and we both gotta get up a 6:30 for work so we called it a night. I stumbled home in my buzzed state the block away that I live and here I am posting away on 'tuners. We did happen to run into one problem though.. there is a open nut on the front of the engine which we can not figure out what it is. It is directly behind the turbo and seems like it runs right into the block. If anyone happens to know what this is off-hand let me know otherwise we'll just rely on another post with some pics we'll put up tommorow.

Thanks again for all the awesome feedback and if everything goes to plan.. we might have the engine mounted tommorow!!!!!!!! :thumb:

you know, i just noticed the intercooler pipes sitting on the passenger seat in those pics a few posts back. i guess i'm blind. i went back to look at that tubular manifold again and was like, "wait a minute, those are intercooler pipes and couplings. that's why that picture is there." i just wasn't paying attention before. anyways, it's good to know you guys have those other supporting mods taken care of. keep up the good work.
