So my car is currently having high oil prerssure. My guge reads up to 100+ when I lightly go on throttle, also my engine seems to have a sputtering sound or a "pause within the engine" im not sure how to actually describe the noise. I plan on uploading a video to show exactly what its doing. Any idea on what my problem may be would be appreciated.

start with a compression check and see where you stand if you have issues there then do a leak down test to see where your pressure is gong it could be your head gasket or rings or valves not sealing correctly. i just had this problem with my valves not seating rite and it was pressurizing my crankcase and giving me really high oil pressure

My head did blow a month ago and I had a friend fix it. And I bought the car i didn't know that they had it clamped down so the dip stick wouldn't pop out. So that would mean I have some blow by "im new to all this and that's what people have told me"

my friend had the problem with his dip stick popping out so he got this thing that automatically releases the pressure when it gets to a high level, I just cant seem to remember what its called.

Have the balance shafts been removed from the engine? This can raise oil pressure, however not as much as you describe. If I were you, Id remove and inspect the oil filter housing. There is a relief valve in this and if it sticks open, it will drop pressure, the opposite is true if this valve sticks shut as far as I know. Search "Oil filter housing", and you will find threads with pictures of the valve Im describing. As far as the motor being slow to rev, this can be caused by high oil pressure.

It's called fixing your crank ventilation system. Check the PCV to make sure it seals properly and have the vent tube hooked up to the intake.

OP are your balance shafts removed and what thickness oil are you using?

No I dont believe my balance shaft is removed and. im using 10w-30 oil

What are you seeing for oil pressure at idle?

Does the temp of the car effect the oil pressure reading?

At start up your going to have crazy high oil pressure since your oil is thicker, especially in the cold. You should let your car warm up for at least 2 minutes before driving it. At idle when fully warm you should read about 20, and at cruise (3,500rpm) you should see about 55-65. If your seeing higher then those numbers or, lower, you have an issue.

Is this with or without the shafts??? I do see lower then this around 9 or 10psi at idle.. You should be careful answering a question with a exact number.. It's always going to get a worry wart like me writing a post like this.... :coy:

If it blew the head gasket a month ago it might be possible that the head gasket was installed improperly and its partially blocking the oil galleys and causeing the high pressure

i will get back to u on this need to find the name

I also get around 9-11 PSI at idle when fully warmed up.
Also like RT-AWD said at first startup you should have crazy high oil psi when cold, It will drop to normal within a few minutes.

I use a Mechanical Oil pressure Gauge and at first start up it shows about 80 PSI then then starts to drop as it warms up.

A little side not is don't drive like i did one day. LOL
I got in my car start it up and basically floored it because i was late for work. Lets just say my gauge didn't like it when the needle did a complete 360 sweep.

His point is you don't need some silly device.

Just setup the crankcase ventilation properly and you won't have issues.:thumb:

ok its called a 1 way check valve. The pcv leaks under high pressure so u slap this on and never have to worry again leaking or not. If you want this the site's called (RTM Racing.com)
To bigbeans and, liquidx Im not here to argue just help and if your happy with your setup thats great, but im trying to find this guy another solution thanx.

The PCV is a one way check valve. Basically you're putting two PCVs in the same line instead of replacing the leaky stocker.

With my autometer gauge I show around 80psi when cold and it drops to around 55-60psi when warm.

Just because your dip stick blows out Does Not mean you have blow by. The rubber or plastic on the dip stick can get worn causing it to be looser in the dipstick tube and will blow out.

Sounds like your reading your oil pressure at the pump. You should take reading at the head. 100 psi at the pump was normal for my car at start up, because the oil is very thick when cold. When it warmed up the oil pressure would drop to 20 to 40. This is when i was readying at the pump.
