2G Cracked Valve Cover, are there any similar valve-covers to a 1995 Talon Tsi 2L ?

Hi guys, as most of you have probably found, Talon parts are becoming frequently hard to find these days. I've searched numerous auto-wreckers and Ebay posts for a 1995 Eagle Talon Tsi 2.0L DOHC valve-cover. I know the block in most DSM are the same, but is there another year that the valve-cover is as well? This would broaden my capabilities of finding an appropriate cover. Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For the 4g63t turbo 2.0 engine or the 420a motor?

I can answer for the turbo valve covers.
The 4G63T 2.0 DOHC turbo engine has a few different style valve covers: the 1990-1994 1st gen dsm valve covers for the Dohc turbo, and the 2.0 4g63 non turbo have letters that read 16 Valve Dohc 2000 and they will fit any turbo dsm's.

The 1995-1999 2nd generation turbo dsm's had letters that read Mitsubishi Dohc 16 valve and are also the [same as the ones fitted on the Dohc non turbo 1989-1993 Galants and 1991-1992 Galant vr4s]

And of course there are at least 2 different types of Dohc Hyundai valve covers that will work on turbo dsm's, one of them is silver and has red letters reading Hyundai Dohc 16 Valve, the other one used on Hyundai's is black, and it reads simply DOHC 16 VALVE, the black ones are really thick covers.

Pretty much all of these are interchangeable, as long as you keep the bolts... I think the Hyundai valve covers have bolts with washers and rubber grommets that are a bit different from Mitsubishi ones.

I was only looking for an adequate substitute for my stock valve-cover, but found it pretty hard to locate a scrapped 1995 Talon Tsi AWD in any junkyards within a few provinces (and Mitsubishi or Chrysler don't stock that part anymore). I should be able to locate a valve-cover now with the info mitsubishikid gave me (which model Hyundai is the same as the 2nd DSM generation turbo valve-cover though?).

If I can't find anything after my broadened search goes, I'll be asking around the site to see if anyone has some spare covers I could purchase.

All 1g and 2g DSM turbo and 1g non turbo 4g63 valve covers are the same (Some are painted different). They all say 16 Valve DOHC 2000. The ones that say Mitsubishi or Mitsubishi with the 3 diamond logo are from imported engines. So as said above, you can get a valve cover from any 1g or 2g 90-99 that has a 4g63 turbo or non turbo.

Dude check the classifieds or eBay. You will quickly learn as a Talon owner to search for Eclipse parts, unless they're trim related. 4g63 valve covers are a dime a dozen. For example, the very first post on classifieds from 91DSMdave. Also, Miller Import Parts sells every used part possible. Look under DSM partouts in classifieds for Stangmurdera's #. You will want to save it.

Early to mid 90's, DOHC Hyundai Sonata's, and DOHC Hyundai Elantra's.

And oh yeah can't forget the rare DOHC Dodge or Plymouth Colt/ Mitsu Mirage DOHC motors also had the same covers as DSMs.

It's not a matter of being able to find one, it's just a matter of how soon and the condition.

I just recently had a very fun time finding a non-cracked VC for my 4g63. I purchased two seperate VC's from reputable sellers on here....both cracked. Ordered one off Ebay....entire corner missing....Checked all three local salvage yards for a week....all 420a!!! Tried posting local, no luck....

You'll eventually find a guy selling one that isn't cracked, but it's not as easy as people make it sound...really it's a gamble unless you want to spend some big money and get one from a known reliable distributor.

I remember one time I was trying as hard as I could to get a valve cover off of a junk yard dsm one time, and yes I made sure I removed all the screws, the cover cracked while I was attempting to lift it off of the head and I never managed to get the cover off of the head, it was stuck there forever .
