Cracked trans ooor how bad is this? *pics*

Driving down the lake to pickup my ladyfriend I'm pretty sure my trans cracked and puked all over itself. I was coming to a stop down a hill then the thing shuddered like its running on one piston or something aaand here are pics.

Cracked just to the right and up of the shifter cables if ne is looking at the engine. The gray thing foreground is the gm maf.


So hopefully this nly means finding a new trans..the way Dogbox Racing is pricing their stage one I'd probly just buy one off the forums here then send it there. So hopefully its just the trans. You be the judge.

I just got my trans rebuilt from dogbox racing. I ended up getting the stage 1. Give them a call I'm sure they can help. BTW nice puppies.

I would start questioning as to why that happened, because that shouldn't happen. How are your motor and transmission mounts? If you're still on factory mounts I bet your transmission mount is in pieces and isn't holding anything, the torque and vibration from nothing holding it caused that to happen. You don't want that to happen to your new trans so check your mounts!

maybe didnt have the dial pins and bolts in it? that happened to my first dsm.

Matter o fact last time i was under the car recently there was almost an inch gap from the frame to the trans on passenger side bolt mount along with a bunch of washers, wondering if that was even the correct bolt, and after going to to so many garages how did no one catch it before me. Just no time tor replace the mounts and check on that...

Also the rear engine mount was trashed-Funny thing a while back i assumed the mechanic was doing me a favor when he told me he replaces a trashed trans mount or two...I guess not that one. I had alwasy wanted to get poly mounts anyway heres why.

I had mine fixed about 45 bucks it broke at the bottom no dowel pins my fault.

hahah what I did is pretty much the opposite of an ideal approach one would take in this situation.


It may have been silly and impatient of me to buy another trans from our classifieds for abouts 400 bux if my cracked one couldhave just been repaired. However according to the car records the trans has been cracked and re welded before so I don't feel too bad about buying a fresh-er one.

Besides at the rate my mechanic goes I'd be waiting 6 months just to have him take out and ship out the old trans.

At least I could send you the proper spline shaft to make the one I sent you work
