cracked head.....

well, my eclipse turns out to have a cracked head. My uncle, who owns a shop, said he can send it out to be machined for around 800. i was wondering if there were better options out there. Such as a 6 bolt swap, or just a new, used engine? Also, any shops in the maryland area that could do such a job without breaking the bank... I was looking for built 6 bolt engines, and so far the only ones i can find are sbr which are out of my price range.... how hard is it to build a 6 bolt? would i just need to build a top end or the whole thing?

Try getting a used head or rebuilt one. I have boughten 3 heads off of www.dsmtrader.com one used and two rebuilt for under 200 shipped for each one. one was 125$ shipped. I would try something like that before condsidering the big stuff

well i got a six bolt and its costin me right now $2500 to get it goin but some it is my fault i messed up as for your head since your in maryland i would go to Jackson Auto Machine 7407 ridge raod,hanover...phone#(410)859-0173 and see how much they charge or you can go to ebay and see if you can get a head there.

Ill give them a call tomorrow... do they have motors there or would i need to find a motor for them to install?

i got my 1g head ported and polishied 3 angel vale job got it shaved and new valve seals and springs put in for $450 i paid for valve seals and springs which were $160 the$450 was machince work

well iv got over $3500 worth of work done to motor and yeat still its in shop for more....just heard some one raisin hell outside must have been a honda...

I had my valves reconditioned, port/polish, hottank, valve job, valve stems ground, and an upper engine gasket set for $475. I dont know about $800 Dont get ripped off like that.

its my uncle, so hes not trying to rip me off. Thats why im wondering what the problem is. He said cracked head but i havent talked it over with him yet.....

if its cracked, i would not risk it being fixed and introduce it to the trash.

yeah if the head is cracked just get another one.way more cheaper.just go to your local junk yard
