I have a cracked exhaust manifold on my 1991 Turbo TSi how much does it cost to fix it and how hard is it to fix. Please give me some ballpark figure so I won't get ripped when I get it fixed. I can't stand the fumes coming in through the HVAC system and it is embarassing when I am sitting at a light and see smoke coming from under the hood, but car is running pretty good. Oh boy.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Thanks:talon:

i have a ported 2gen manny for sale 160 shiped.

i odnt think anyone would recomend trying to fix a crack in the exhaust manifold, even if you were to take if off and weld it you wouldnt be able to weld the crack on the inside, and it would be very likely to crack again

its really common to crack 1g manifo,ds, espicaly since they are all 10+ years old. your alot better off buying another one.

I don't think its just the age of them, but I read something about how the materials used to make the manifolds were shit, so they crack. But 2G and EVO manifolds don't crack, just replace it with one of them. Hell if you fix the one crack, it will probably crack in another spot! BTW 2G and EVO manifolds are a little bigger and flow better ;)!

I almost have that much. I have to get a little more cash together and I will buy that from you. I will PM you soon. I almost have the cash together.

How long will it last do you think?

Or... you could bring the manifold to a welder/shop, and have them patch it up for a few dollars. They'd just need to run a bead of weld along the crack, and that's it.

That's probably the cheapest way, but it may possibly crack again.

I got the car back from a local shop that has done work for me. There qoute was $465 for a Brand new exhuast manifold + new gaskets and labor alltogether. For $335 they would fix it with a used exhaust manifold, new gaskets and labor included.

The shop mechanics said I have a crack in 3 different places and I might as well go on and just replace it (13 years old). So I figure I will buy the one from HondaKilla and have them put that one on or just buy a brand new EVO manifold with more nickel in it. I love the AWD Turbo so I want to fix it right. I am trying to not be cheap because I know it will come back to haunt me.
Thanks everyone for the heads up. I am new to owning a Turbo TSi.

Why not buy a few tools and replace it yourself? (about $265 of your quote is labor) You can pick up a pretty nice set of Craftsman tools for that price. It'll take less than and hour.

Or Pay for shipping to and from me, plus $5 for welding rod and I'll weld it up for you. I fix my own and my coeworkers.
