ok, i have had a crack in my exhaust manifold for months and it finally broke all the way through and is leaking a tiny bit....but i imagine if i can feel it leaking air at around 2500 rpms then it is probably losing a nice hunk of power on the higher rev....JB Weld says that they only recommend their stuff for things under 500 degrees....how hot does the manifold get? could i weld or sauter it??

Thanks :dsm:

When welding cast iron heat it slowly, and when done let it cool slowly. throwing water on it or putting it outside in the snow (if you have it) will make it crack again. get a bucket and fill it with some sand and then when your done put the manifold in the bucket and cover it with sand. This will be sufficent in letting it cool slowly. Hope that helps ya :thumb:

Floor-Dri or clay cat litter is the king here.

Has anyone ever tried using exhaust patching compound? Mine has a crack and is leaking also. Just need something that will hold for 2 or three months until it gets nice outside for me to replace it an SBR manifold hopefully.

I don't think theres much to do for patching it. I try just about everything at the auto stores. I try JB Weld and it burn into the atmosphere, tried that thing where it saids manifold, exhaust repair and it will get stronger with heat. That worked for no more than 2weeks, then it started chipping off slowly. :thumbdown I've been trying so many of them because I was too lazy to take it off since its cold. With all the money I spent on patches, I've could of got it to be welded somewhere or maybe got one on ebay for cheap.
