Picked up a 2G exhaust manifold and decided to port it and found this crack. Should I worry?

I am certainly no expert on this, but I would say you should have no worries. You may want to get welded so it doesn't eventually break off and into your turbo. But since it is in the area right where all the exhaust joins together and going in the turbo, I don't think you should worry about it. Like I said I would get it welded just in case.

It is visible on the otherside and it goes all the way down the devider on both sides. Like travislaw said, I'm just worried about it breaking off and killing my turbo. But atleast if it did, i'd have an excuse to get an evo III.:coy:

I'm talking about the other side, or outside, of the manifold not the other side of the divider. If it's visible from the outside of the manifold then I wouldn't bother bolting it on.

Oh. No, its not cracked on the outside. I know it would need some work if it was cracked on the outside. I think it should be safe the way it is because I don't think its too likely that the whole center devider would break loose. I just wanted some other opinions on it.

Glad I read this thread. Mine has a virtually identical crack, but I got no "bites" on my similar, concerned post.

Oldman...I humbly ask thee if I (and DSMcamaro) should ignore it or consider having it welded since it's already off. The link to my similar thread is here (with a pic of the cracks in my mani). I also posted a bunch of porting questions here. In that 2nd wannabe thread I ask whether or not to do minor tweaking to that flap in the collector, and I'm wondering if the crack becomes more important in this case. There are other questions about porting in there, too, if you care for another porting 101 "student" ;).

Hope this isn't considered "off topic" :shhh:

My stock 1G was cracked all over. Make sure to clean the outside real well to see cracks.
I bought an evo ported from dsmparts. The dividers are very large.
I just spent all weekend porting my turbine and o2 housing to rid the boost creep from my 3" exhaust. Still creeping from 5000rpm up to 20+lbs. I've ported my turbine housing 3 times and the last one was perfect. Any more and I don't have a housing. Hey oldman, is the dividers my problem? I ported the wastegate to open all the way but I noticed my actuator doesn't push it far enough.
