Dont laugh everyone...
first drag race in nearly a decade with a pro-tree...whatever that is :p
DA was insane at nearly 8,000 altitude at Western Slope Drag-way in Clifton, CO.
Fastest time was 13.51 against a tuned Golf-R-Auto on 116 racegas (he ran a 12.86).
Felt like I had a lot more power on the table but my cheapo make-shift MBC would not allow me to go over 22 lbs :(
What do you all think needs to be addressed to get into 12's on my current setup-getting a Hallman BC?
I am thinking ramping the boost up to 27 lbs and trying not to blow up the stock transmission :p
Thank you

Here is the 13.75 pass as well...that was awesome running against a Z06 vette-lost by .3 seconds though
If I had any talent that run-a 2.4 60

and a 1.4 reaction time it would have been a far different story

LOL vegas...I guess a bigger turbo(j/k-reading alot about Holset 35's and 40's) :p
whats a good 60 on street tires- 1.7 ?
at 30 lbs of boost dropping it at 5k seems like certain death for the trannie and axles :p
Thoughts?
Thank you

So true boostdawd...my buddy and I were laughing at my hilarious attempt to drive this beast (to my defense it was my first drag race in over a decade with a super silly pro-tree style light)-I try to emulate a certain someone so my yes is my yes and my no is my no :p
The night went 13.75; 14.9; 15; about to have my buddy buy a racers pass and then after some serious playing around with launch setting and fixing a small issue with the MBC I ran a 13.5.
I know with the right driver-mod and a little boost I should be pushing mid 12's at high altitude which would be awesome and a dream come true.

Stay at it, those times will come down! :thumb:

Thank you Marty and everyone else for your aid in bringing these numbers down yourselves through the sharing of your esteemed knowledge regarding these awesome cars!
Cannot wait to share the 12 second pass in the next month or so :)
What tire pressure does everyone run on their stock tires for running down the strip?

I ran my sons auto awd car at 20 lbs because he was complaining about grip. Never tried anything lower. :)
Your 12 second pass is coming. I gotta get my car to the track and pull an 11. The car has 10 capability I'm pretty sure.

It's not all about upping the boost. Your better off with lower boost and more timing and getting those dialed in. I ran a 13.7 with my gvr4 almost stock at 17psi with a Home Depot racing mbc LOL, also on crappy dryrot tires and blown suspension oh and no brakes LOL. But I also launched/eased into It around 6k ;). I think I was low 1.8 or high 1.7 60'. Seat time is your friend!

NICE!!!
Those are some impressive numbers, especially with a 14b...I take it that was in Hawaii at sea-level?
I agree whole-heatedly about not only the timing-was running only 15 degrees at the peak; but also seat-time.
Thank you for all of your encouragement. It's funny looking over my very first pass of 13.7 against a ZO6, if I would have had a 1.8 60 ft and a half a second faster reaction time I would have been in the 12's :)
I am hoping to get the VR4 running safe on about 27 lbs with peak timing of 16 or 17 degrees and getting a low 12 second pass :D Most likely at the cost of an axle or transmission though

P.S. Sad-Panda no one answered my question regarding what they run for their tire pressure on non-slicks

Tire pressure I would go down alittle maybe 23-28, or just keep them all at 32. Having them alittle bit under pressure helps abit for sure on street tires. And ya our drag strip is sea-level actually you can walk to the beach from the strip LOL. I would stay around 20-22 and get that timing up as much as you can. Work on the launch to get into the 1.7's and your in the 12's. What octane gas are you using? If you can get some 100 oct, will let you run more timing and or both more timing and boost.

My goodness....no wonder people fall in love with and don't want to leave Hawai :p need pics of that beauty .
I am running E85.
I will be playing with my peak timing and will try and safely get to 18 to 19 peak timing without increasing boost-hoping not to lift the head.
Regarding tire pressure It seemed even at 30 lbs of tire pressure I was spinning the tires at launch and into second, would of been horrendous if I had them at 38 lbs normally.
Thank you for your input aloha

The mbc not letting the boost go high enough is going to be a weak spring most likely. If the boost can push the ball/seat open on it's tightest setting then the spring isn't holding the pressure against the seat properly. I bought a hallman pro many years ago and haven't used anything else since because it works great.
