i got my 97 gs 2 days ago and noticed that i dont have a oil cap, but the there is something there that mimics the cap.

It's just the oil cap without the plastic cover that clicks.get yourself a new oil cap.go to the dealer or they got purty ones on ebay.

yes... i leaked mad oil from a bad cap. new = good.

Go and buy a new oil cap... they are like $12 for stock.

Here is one for $8.39. Though your junk yard would be your best bet if you really want to go cheap (cost wise, not parts wise).

If you cannot get the cap off, then perhaps try to get it off from the underside. To do this, it will require taking the valve cover off. And that would be a great time to replace the valve cover gasket, spark plug gasket, and that half moon crankshaft plug. It is only like 14 bolts which require ~2.5 lb/ft of torque (which is just a bit tighter than finger tight) on each. So if you take the valve cover off get a gasket kit and some Silicone RTV.
