Cops bust street racers in Norfolk VA

The engines being stolen had a huge part to do with these last ones. That is why it is all hondas. The cars wouldn't have been crushed for just racing but those ones were found to have engines that didn't match the vin numbers and the owners either couldn't or didn't care to prove that the parts were acquired legally.

Not all cars are being crushed. The officer clearly said that those who did not show up to court with paper work on the parts, would end up with crushed cars. He mentioned that some people recovered their vehicles.

If you're dumb enough to street race, and dumb enough to install stolen parts, you deserve to have your car crushed... Next time they'll take it to the track. I do think however, they should've auctioned off the cars to charity my .02 cents

Everyone take a good long look at what street racing is doing for state legislation. Hopefully it sinks in. This type of enforcement will start spreading and soon will come to a city near you if the street racers don't stop ruining it for the rest of us.

Go to the track and keep the racing off the streets. Our local tracks need more support and the younger generation needs a place to play. It's a perfect fit. If only the lack of common sense didn't screw everything up.

The nearest drag strip is about two and a half ours away and there are limited times on when you can race down there and its a crappy strip anyway. Just my .02 cents.

I have a different transmission in one car and a different engine in another, but I don't have any proof. That would suck to just get pulled over for some stupid thing and get your car crushed. But if that only happened to people who were street racing, then I don't feel as bad for them.

However, it is a big waste of energy, resources and potential money for the police to crush those cars.

And that's an issue where some people have to make a more difficult choice than others. It's still just another excuse - it's more convenient, it's free, it's fun, it's a rush... plenty of reasons why people street race. Plenty of reasons for them not to as well. Pretty soon there will be more reasons not to if people can't use some self control and do the right thing.

This whole crushing cars thing is just a sign of things to come. I don't think it's the best way to handle the problem but it sure is making the street racers take notice, isn't it? And that's good enough for me.

"I love modifying cars but it should be taken to the track, trailer them up there and race it." WTF give me a truck and a trailer and I would trailer my car to the track. The closest track is an hour away. I'd much rather be able to trailer my car so if...when ...it breaks I'll still have a way home. Also I know all of the cops here in town have at least 1 "illegal" modification to their car, and a few cars around here that were street/track cars that when impounded the cops kept to use for their own cruiser.
